Sweeping Job: Just Adetoun apologizes, visits struggling woman’s family with offer

After facing severe criticism for calling out a struggling mother who took her 11-year-old daughter to her street-sweeping job, controversial activist Just Adetoun has taken steps to make amends.
Just Adetoun had shared a video documenting the woman and her child at her sweeping job as early as 4 a.m., which she deemed inappropriate and child labour.
In a recent update, Adetoun visited the woman’s home to apologize for the way she handled the situation, acknowledging that her approach may have come across as disrespectful. She emphasized that her initial intention was to advocate for the child’s well-being, not to belittle the family.
The activist, moved by the woman’s struggles, offered to place her on a monthly salary in addition to the N19,500 she earns from her sweeping job. A video of the visit captured an emotional moment between Adetoun, the woman, and her child.
Sharing the update on Instagram, she wrote:
“APOLOGIES ON HOW YOU ALL SAW THE VIDEO. I knew something was wrong, but the right of the child was most important. She comes all the way from inside Oworo to Ikoyi just for 19,500 monthly 😢😢😢😢😢. MY INTENTION WAS CLEAR IN MY CAPTION.”
Her gesture has sparked fresh conversations online, with some commending her for taking responsibility and offering help, while others blasted her for the damage control and crocodile tears.
A social media user, @PidginGuyHQ reacted, “She was expecting people to support her dirty behavior. You don’t just see someone sweeping and start shouting at the mother for no reason. She could have corrected her without a camera and without shouting.”
Another user, @JustSeyi noted, “Zero need for the original video; the fake tears are even worse.”
