The moment you threaten me, forget it. I want to see that heaven come down - Nyesom Wike

According to the report from SYMFONI TV, The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured the residents of Gishiri community that the FCT Administration is committed to providing fair compensation to all owners of structures recently demolished along the Arterial Road N16 in Katampe District, Abuja.

Wike made this pledge during a meeting with representatives of the affected residents, led by the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Maikalangu, at his Life Camp official residence on Monday, March 17, 2024. The meeting was called to address the concerns of those affected by the demolition.

The Minister explained that the demolition was carried out for the greater good of the public, aimed at completing the Arterial Road N16 project. He emphasized that the goal was to improve Abuja’s infrastructure and elevate its status as a world-class city, noting that the project was not for personal gain but for the collective benefit of all FCT residents.

Wike stated, “The demolition was not for personal reasons. It was done in the interest of public good and to ensure the completion of the Arterial Road N16, which is critical for the development of Abuja.”

He further expressed his frustration with misleading claims and unfounded accusations surrounding the project. “I could have chosen to hide the truth and mislead the public, but that would have been unfair. I respect everyone, but I will not stand for propaganda or blackmail. If you know me, the moment you threaten me, forget it. I want to see that heaven come down.” Wike asserted.

The Minister’s remarks underscore the government’s commitment to transparency and fairness as it works to modernize Abuja’s infrastructure for future growth.
