Top-Class: Ex-Arsenal Star Ranks Isak Above Osimhen, Admits Gap Is Narrow DDM News

(DDM) – Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen once again proved his quality with a decisive goal as Galatasaray edged Liverpool in a UEFA Champions League clash in Istanbul.

The Nigerian forward, who has been on the radar of several top European clubs, joined the Turkish giants in the summer for €75 million.

DDM gathered that Osimhen had previously been linked with Liverpool, but the Premier League side instead secured the services of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

The Swedish striker made headlines as he completed a British record €145 million transfer to Anfield, leaving many questioning why Osimhen was overlooked.

Former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson has now weighed in on the debate, offering his assessment of the two forwards during an appearance on ESPN FC.

Robson rated Isak slightly ahead of Osimhen but stressed that the margin separating both players was very narrow.

According to him, Osimhen remains a “top-class” forward who brings pace, strength, energy, and aerial presence to his game.

He praised the Nigerian’s ability to hold play with his back to goal, describing him as a constant threat to opposing defenses.

Robson also expressed surprise that Osimhen had not joined one of Europe’s established elite clubs despite his impressive track record.

“There are lots of big clubs that should have taken him but didn’t take the chance,” Robson said in his ESPN FC appearance.

He emphasized that Osimhen’s move to Turkey should not diminish his reputation as one of the most dangerous forwards in European football.

Statistically, Osimhen has begun the season on strong form, netting three goals in five appearances for Galatasaray.

By contrast, Isak has so far struggled to replicate his Newcastle scoring touch at Liverpool, managing just one goal since his record-breaking move.

For many football observers, the Champions League performance underlined Osimhen’s consistency and resilience.

Even outside the spotlight of the English Premier League, the Nigerian forward continues to make his mark on the European stage.

His goal against Liverpool not only lifted Galatasaray but also reignited the debate over his rightful place among world football’s elite strikers.

The conversation now continues: was Liverpool wrong to gamble on Isak while letting Osimhen slip into Galatasaray’s hands?

For Stewart Robson, the answer remains clear, both players are outstanding, but Osimhen deserves far more recognition than he currently receives.
