* The Anambra State Commissioner of Police Mr. Ikioye Orutugu led a high powered security patrol team within Awka and Onitsha metropolis to reassure ndi Anambra and other residents of the state of the readiness of the command to give them adequate security at all times.

The Commissioner who equally visited the site of the recent fire incident that destroyed goods worth millions of naira at Ifejirika street Onitsha, said that the command and Anambra State government are saddened by the development and pointed out that they will establish a tripartite committee that will investigate the immediate and remote causes of the recent fire incidents in Onitsha to forestall reoccurrence.

The Chairman of Onitsha Main Market Association, Chief Innocent Ezeoha appreciated Mr. Orutugu for the visit, saying that they will be happy to work with the command and other relevant agencies to find a lasting solution to the incessant and regrettable fire incidents in the commercial city of Onitsha.

During the patrol, the Bus Drivers Welfare Association of Anambra State, Onitsha branch who spoke through their Chairman, Mr. Tochukwu Anagboso assured the police commissioner and the State government that they will continue to make their vehicles available on Mondays for full economic activities in the city as they are tired of the sit-at-home syndrome.

* Tax plays a big role in shaping the quality of infrastructure, healthcare, education and other services provided by government to its citizens.

Executive Director, Social and Integral Development Centre, Ugochi Ehiahuruike, stated this during a market sensitization programme at Nnewi for selected markets in Anambra South Senatorial District, as part of the Tax for Service campaign, implemented in collaboration with the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, (CISLAC) with funding support from Oxfam Nigeria.

Ehiahuruike, represented by SIDEC’s Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer, Bruno Chimnaecherem, however regretted that most citizens are often confused about where the money goes, how policies are made, and what roles different stakeholders play in ensuring fair and transparent taxation.

* Thousands of Anambra Youths under the auspices of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Anambra Chapter, Ohanézè Youth Wing Anambra and Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU Youth, have united in calls to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to contest for a second term in office.

At the International Convention Centre, Awka, the youths held a Solidarity Rally with the theme; “Clarion call for Continuity”, in support of the Governor, where they presented the Governor with a cheque support of ten point five million naira.

The Youth Generals including Dr. Tochukwu Obiadi, Messers Emeka Obi, Ken Okoli, revealed that they made no mistake supporting the Governor’s election, describing him as the most youth-friendly Governor, assuring of standing in solidarity with his government.

In his acceptance speech, Soludo said he was encouraged with their support to continue implementing the agenda of his administration, describing Anambra youths as brilliant and hardworking, insisting that in Anambra, the youths are the leaders of today which is why he has provided alot of opportunities for the youths in his government.

The Governor assured that his administration will continue to demonstrate that the society will continue to get better when the youths are given the opportunity.

* The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship aspirant Sir. Paul Chukwuma has urged delegates to choose a candidate capable of leading the party to victory.

Chukwuma made the call through a letter
as delegates prepare to cast their votes on April 5, 2025, in what is poised to be a landmark decision for Anambra State.

In the letter, Chukwuma stresses the significance of the delegates’ role in shaping the future of Anambra, framing the decision as one that will impact not only the APC but also the state’s future prosperity. He emphasises that this election is not just a selection of a candidate but a pivotal moment that will define the direction Anambra will take in the years to come.

Chukwuma presents himself as the candidate best equipped to steer the APC to success, urging delegates to look past transient promises and distractions. He emphasises his long-standing commitment to the APC, noting his dedication as a former Zonal Youth Leader and National Auditor. These positions have allowed him to contribute significantly to the party’s development in the state.

* The Traditional Ruler of Mkpunando-Aguleri, Igwe Johnson Onyeaka-Mbanefo said Prof. Soludo is the only Governor since the creation of the state who has remembered and fulfilled his promises to them and pledged their continued support to his government.

Igwe Onyeaka-Manefo said as an agrarian community, they have lost so much because they cannot transport their farm produce but thanked God for the gift of Governor Soludo

But, three years later, the story changed with different projects at different levels of completion including roads and a general hospital.

Specifically, work has commenced in earnest on the eight kilometer of Enugwu-Otu – Eziagulu Otu road.

* As the November, 2025 Gubernatorial election gears up, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA is tightening up loose ends to ensure a seamless primary election.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo state this while exchanging views with the media shortly after a closed door meeting with the party hierarchy including stakeholders, local government elected Mayors and Councillors.

According to the Governor, Anambra is one state, one people with one agenda and one political party, stating that the meeting was a prelude to the forthcoming Saturday primary election to ensure that everyone is fully aligned and review what the party had achieved through his government for the past three years, in lieu of the future.

The Governor who expressed happiness that his administration has substantially delivered on its contract with ndị Anambra, revealed that in the history of APGA, the party has never been this united in an election year and added that there seems to be a general consensus for his government and the party to continue to remain in power.

* The Anambra State Government has informed ndị Anambra that the Nigerian Army has commenced online registration for 89 Regular Recruits Intake Recruitment Exercise for Trades/Non-tradesmen and Women from 31st March to 17th May 2025.

According to a statement by the Director, Directorate of Recruitment and Manning, Army Headquarters, Abuja, Brigadier General Chibueze Ogbuabo, applicants must be single and must be Nigerian citizens by birth and must be medically, physically and psychologically fit in line with Nigerian Army standards.

“An applicant must not be less than 18 years and not more than 22 years for non-tradesmen/women, while tradesmen/women must not be more than 26 years as of 30th June 2025.”

Selected candidates will participate in the state’s recruitment screening exercise scheduled to be held from 2nd June to 16th June 2025.

While informing interested candidates that more information on eligibility and requirements can be obtained from the Nigerian Army Recruitment Website, the statement emphasised that Nigerian Army recruitment is free.

* In a massive show of support, sixty support groups, comprising 120 members under the umbrella of All Soludo Support Groups (ASSG), have endorsed Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s bid for a second term.

The groups presented a whopping thirty million naira to the Governor at the International Convention Centre, Awka, to support his re-election campaign.

Governor Soludo, overwhelmed by the gesture, revealed that there is a consensus among community leaders, APGA stakeholders, youths, and students alike, urging him to run for a second term.

He attributed this consensus to the visible developments and projects executed by his administration, which has positively impacted the lives of Anambra residents.

The Governor reiterated his commitment to sustaining the vision of “One State, One People, One Agenda,” prioritizing the needs of ndi Anambra and executing projects that have transformed the state. The Governor, thereafter, expressed his profound gratitude to all the support groups as well as their leadership

The Cordinator of the All Soludo Support Group, ASSG, Mr. Chinedu Nwoye, flanked by other conveners, pledged to support the governor in fulfilling his manifesto and vision for the state.

Unanimously, they expressed their profound satisfaction with the sterling achievements of the administration saying that they did not make a mistake by supporting the Governor’s first term in office.

This development comes on the heels of a similar endorsement by Anambra State students, who contributed two million naira to support Governor Soludo’s re-election bid. The Soludo Vanguard, a grassroots support group, has also mobilized support for the governor’s re-election campaign.

* Sir Charles Ezeokafor the new elected president general of Okpoko community in Ogbaru LGA has assured that his mission in the community is to restore absolute peace and tranquility, promote love among residents as well as ensure adequate security maintenance in the entire community.

Outlining these as the areas his administration will tackle while speaking to newsmen two days after he was elected, in his residence at Ede road Okpoko Ogbaru LGA. Sir Ezeokafor while thanking the community for electing him to serve them stated that immediately he was elected that his first priority was how he will personally reached to various
contending parties in the leadership of the community to come together for peace to reign adding that he had already set up a process of contacting them to withdraw their various suits in court for all of them to come together to move the community forward.

On other areas of development of the community, he noted that areas his administration will give priority attention are Sanitation, decongestion of streets markets which the community is noted for.

 

* The Mayor of Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Stanley Nkwoka has appointed a renowned grassroots mobilizer cum veteran journalist, Hon. Mmaduabuchi Onwumelu, his Special Adviser (SPAD) On Youth Development and Mobilization.

Hon Onwumelu, until his appointment, was the Media Aide to the Council Boss.

Presenting the appointment letter to him in his office at Idemili North Council’s Headquarters, Ogidi, the Mayor of the most populous and densely populated Council Area in Anambra State charged the new appointee to use his office to produce a workable plans geared towards engaging Idemili North youths effectively and efficiently, expressing optimism that he would bring his wealth of experience and technical-know-how to bear in the discharge of his duties.
