# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has called on Anambra Corps members to look beyond colourful displays of tradition and embrace the deeper values of mutual respect, tolerance, and collaboration as guiding principles for nation-building.
Soludo, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Development, Engr. Dr. Martin Agbili, gave the charge on Saturday, August 16, 2025, during the 2025 Batch B, Stream one Inter-Platoon Cultural Carnival held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu.
The Governor reminded the young Nigerians that while dances, attire, and cuisines are beautiful expressions of identity, their real strength lies in the unity they foster.
In her address, the State Coordinator of NYSC Anambra, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, described the carnival as “a living celebration of Nigeria’s soul,” adding that every performance proved that Nigeria’s strength lies in its cultural diversity. She applauded Corps members for their creativity and energy, as well as the Carnival Committee for delivering a memorable festival.
# The Chairman of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, His Majesty Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Eze Iweka III of Obosi Ukwalla kingdom has urged the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to quickly ensure that a demarcation Slab abandoned along Asaba Expressway by a Construction company over 5 years ago be removed saying that it has caused several road accidents endangering lives of unsuspecting road users.
Eze Iweka III made the request at his palace, Obosi Community, Idemili North LGA, immediately after his investiture as an Honorary Special Marshall (HSM) by the FRSC Corp Marshall, Shehu Mohammed saying that he was an eye witness to a ghastly motor accident when a vehicle that was about overtaking another vehicle rammed into the abandoned demarcation slab that was left beside the normal demarcation along the center of the road.
In a quick response, the FRSC Corp Marshall who was ably represented by Deputy Corp Marshall, Chidi Nkwonta directed the Zonal Commanding Officer Zone 5 in charge of Edo, Delta and Anambra, ACM Stella Orakwue to facilitate the immediate removal of the abandoned slab within the next three days thanking Igwe Chidubem Iweka for his concern for the well being of road users within Obosi, Anambra State and beyond.
In his address while decorating Eze Iweka III with the Honorary Special Marshall, the FRSC Corp Marshall said that the HSM status was different from regular corp marshalls, which is the second arm of the FRSC made up of volunteers.
# Dr. Oliver Umeh, the Medical Director & Chief Executive Officer, MD/ CEO of Victory Hospital & Children Clinics Onitsha, Anambra State, has given a confidence vote on the leadership of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State for championing realistic infrastructural upgrade in the state.
Dr Oliver Umeh who is a philanthropist from Mgbakwu, Awka North LGA also passed the same confidence vote on the
Chairman of Awka-North, Hon Dr ThankGod Anagor for his Sterling performance in office.
He went further to laud the national leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA led by Hon Barr Sly Ezeokenwa and at the State led by Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye for galvanizing support and solidarity for the APGA government led by Prof Soludo.
Dr. Umeh reaffirmed his firm conviction that “4+4 is assured” in the forthcoming November 8 Anambra State Governorship Election.
# A Chieftain of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), has lauded Mayor of idemili South, Dr. Mrs Amaka Obi, for raising the bar of local governance and setting a new national standard.
He praised Dr. Mrs Amaka Obi for her visionary approach to community development, stating that the programme was not just a routine training but a strategic investment in human capital aimed at building a globally competitive generation.
While stating that Idemili will reciprocate the good works of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, in the council area with their votes on November 8th, he encouraged the graduands to shine as worthy ambassadors of the programme and to make a positive impact in their communities.
# The Mayor of Njikoka, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba has paid a condolence visit to the family of late Patricia Azuka Okogba in Abba.
The visit was made to sympathise with the family during their time of grief and to honour the memory of the late Mrs. Okogba, who was the mother of Hon. Chris Okogba, a member of Mayor Njikoka Media Team.
During the visit, the mayor expressed deep sorrow over the loss and offered words of comfort to the bereaved family. He also commended the legacy of the deceased, highlighting her contributions to both her family and Abba community.
# Nigeria National League (NNL) side,
Solution FC Club, an Anambra based football team, has paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Njikoka LGA, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, as part of its ongoing community engagement and development initiatives.
Led by Hon. Ifeanyi Okeke, the delegation included members of the club’s management, coaching staff, and selected players.
During the visit, the club expressed gratitude for the local government’s support for sports development and discussed possible areas of collaboration in promoting youth empowerment through football.
In his remarks, the team emphasised the importance of strong community ties and praised the Mayor for his continued efforts in supporting young talent in Njikoka.
Responding, Hon. Chinedu Ononiba welcomed the club warmly and commended its vision and discipline, assuring them of his administration’s commitment to supporting youth and sports initiatives across Njikoka. The Mayor also pledged that the initiative of Governor Chukwuma Soludo is to engage youth through sport to foster synergy with communities.
# The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has described the election and declaration of Chief Emma Nwachukwu as Senator-elect and Barr. Ifeoma Azikiwe as State House of Assembly member-elect, both of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as a true confirmation of the supremacy and commitment of the party faithful in the State.
In his congratulatory message to the Anambra South Senator-elect, Chief Nwachukwu and Onitsha North One House of Assembly member-elect, Barr. Azikiwe, Rt. Hon. Udeze noted that Ndi Anambra South and Onitsha North One State Constituency have proven that APGA is surely on ground in the State.
The Speaker who paid glowing tribute to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his dogged efforts and massive campaigns he led in the two elections, commended him particularly for his numerous accomplishments in the State, which he said, were enough campaign tools for the two APGA candidates, Chief Nwachukwu and Barr.Azikiwe.
Udeze lauded the zeal with which his colleagues in the State Legislature especially lawmakers from Anambra South and North Senatorial Districts took the By-election, adding that they really worked hard to achieve the victory.
# The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra Chapter has congratulated Tony Nezianya, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Olympic Committee on his initiation into the prestigious Agbalanze Society of Onitsha.
SWAN in a Statement signed by Chimezie Anaso and Uche Ndeke, Chairman and Secretary respectively described the honour on Nezianya as most deserving and long overdue.
The body of sports journalists in Anambra said they were proud to associate with Nezianya an accomplished retired civil servant, a trailblazer in sports journalism and a cultural irredentist.
Nezianya retired from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as Director after an illustrious career, a former chairman of SWAN in Lagos State, three time PRO of NOC and widely traveled many across continents.
# Barr. Prince Chukwudi Oli has flagged off the construction of a sports stadium at Nri Boys Secondary School, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
In his remarks, Barr. Oli described the project as part of his broader commitment to the growth of Anaocha, particularly in youth empowerment and educational development. He further disclosed plans to renovate classrooms, replace old roofs, and undertake additional infrastructural improvements in the school.
“Sports is not only about playing; it is about instilling discipline and building character,” he said, noting that the stadium would serve as a platform for both sporting excellence and youth development.
