The National Chairman of APGA, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, has expressed immense gratitude for the party’s significant achievements, marking a historic moment with the election of a Senator of APGA extraction in the district, a milestone he attributed to the efforts of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Speaking in Nanka, Anambra State, Ezeokenwa celebrated the “massive victory” secured in the recent polls and urged party members and supporters to rally behind the collective vision, stating, “Operation one million votes for Soludo” will be our next goal, emphasizing the commitment to continued growth and electoral success for the party.

# Prosper Okoye, a Mass Communication graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, has received the prestigious National Youth Service Corps Presidential Honours Award.

The award was presented at a combined ceremony in Abuja, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, commended the honourees for their patriotism, teamwork and service to the country.

Each awardee will receive a cash prize of two hundred and fifty thousand naira, automatic employment in the federal civil service, and a scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies in any Nigerian university.

# Anambra State Police Operatives have arrested suspects in two separate cases of defilement reported and transferred to the Gender unit at the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.

The Operatives have also secured medical evidence to prove the suspects’ culpability and will charge the case to Court on Wednesday, August 20th, 2025.

Anambra Police Spokesperson, SP. Tochukwu Ikenga in a press release stated that the cases include:

“A case of defilement transferred from CPS Onitsha on 8th August 2025 which stated how one Emmnuel Sampson living in Odoakpu, Onitsha lured an 8-year-old daughter of his neighbour under the pretence of giving her food and thereafter had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

“Similarly, on 14th August 2025, a case of defilement was transferred from the 3-3 Division which stated how a 13-year-old girl was defiled by a security man in an Estate.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect, one ThankGod Damian, a security man in the Estate, lured the victim into an uncompleted building where he forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

“The Anambra State Police Command remains committed to ensuring justice for victims of sexual and gender-based violence. However, parents and guardians are further advised to remain vigilant and to promptly report all suspected cases to the nearest Police formation for immediate action”. Ikenga stated.

# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has welcomed a former lawmaker who represented Orumba North and South Federal Constituency, Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo back into the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The former lawmaker, who previously defected to another party, was received back to APGA in Nanka

Governor Soludo while speaking at the event said APGA’s triumphant across all 118 wards in Anambra South is historic.
He described Ezenwankwo’s decision as a sign of loyalty to the party’s foundational principles.

In his remark, Chief Ezenwankwo urged the gathered crowd to reflect their commitment to Soludo’s administration through action: “On November 8th, we will queue behind Governor Soludo. Our presence here today is a testament to our strength—over ten thousand people strong, ready to march forward side by side.”

# The Mayor of Dunukofia LGA, Barr. Chijioke Ozumba has congratulated the winners of Anambra State by-elections held last Saturday, for Anambra South Senatorial District and Onitsha North Constituency 1 of Anambra State, Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu (Senator-elect) and Mrs Ifeoma Mimi Azikiwe (House Member-elect), respectively.

The Mayor stated that the victories are for the people and well deserved, describing Chief Nwachukwu and Hon. Azikiwe as very competent to occupy the offices. He assured the both constituencies that they have made the right and irregretable choices.

He also, congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo who has continued to make huge effort towards the success and progress of our great party, APGA. Noting that the victories recorded in the by-elections were as a result of his immense dedication and commitment to APGA.

Barr. Ozumba further congratulated the APGA, stating that the whopping organic support the party garners and enjoys across the State is truly overwhelming and inspiring. He thanked Ndi Anambra, especially the voters for adopting and always supporting the party.

# The Anambra State Government has expressed its dismay over the disturbing video being circulated online showing some members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) being assaulted and harassed by members of Operation Udo Ga-Achi in Obá, Idemili South Local Government Area.

Anambra Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, in a press release, urged the victims to cooperate with security to ensure speedy dispensation of justice.

“We strongly condemn this act of violence and harassment on these young Nigerians, who are serving their country with dedication and patriotism.

“Therefore, any form of assault perpetrated by any member of the security outfits is outside their code of conduct, and all those involved, particularly in the incident under reference, will face the full weight of the law”. Mefor stated.

# The Anambra State House of Assembly has summoned the member representing Ayamelum Constituency, Hon Bernard Udemezue for sharing damaging contents on social media.

The House passed the resolution at plenary on Tuesday, following a matter of urgent public importance moved by the member representing Aguata 2 constituency, Hon Tony Mobike and seconded by the Chief Whip, and member representing Ihiala one Constituency, Hon. Jude Ngobili.

Hon Muobike contended that the lawmaker’s comments on social media did not only damage the reputation of the House, but also threaten the safety of House members.

Dr. Muobike before laying his documentated evidence, prayed the House to investigate into the matter to avoid further escalation.

# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has reaffirmed his commitment to infrastructural development in the state.

Soludo took a walk on the Adili road Nnewi; where he addressed a gathering of supporters, reflecting on the promise he made during the recent Senatorial bye-election campaign which produced Senator-elect, Emmanuel Nwachukwu.

Recall that he promised last Tuesday during the campaign to return to Nnewi, acknowledging the support APGA received from the community, and enumerated several completed road projects in Nnewi, including Bank Road, Igwe Orizu Road, as well as a dual carriageway connecting Agulu to Nnewi and Ozubulu, and another road linking Nkwo Nnewi to Nkwọ Oraifite.

In addition, the Governor further promised to construct the Building Material road that would enhance accessibility and economic opportunities in the area.

Governor Soludo expressed gratitude to the citizens of Nnewi for their support in the recent election, thanking them for voting for APGA on Saturday, where they demonstrated that Nnewi is no longer in the opposition.
