# The Young Progressive Party (YPP) governorship candidate for November 8th 2025 Anambra gubernatorial election, Sir. Paul Chukwuma on Friday led a protest,
under the aegis “Make Anambra Great Again (MAGA), calling on police authorities to ensure justice was done on the assault meted to a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Jennifer Elohor, in the state.

Sir. Chukwuma while speaking at the gate of Anambra State Police Command in Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area, condemned the incident, noting that the level of lawlessness being perpetrated by state vigilante group “Agunaechemba”,
are appalling.

According to the governorship candidate, everyone must rise to challenge them before this consumes everybody in Anambra state. He stated that the protest was not about him personally but about standing up for Ndi Anambra and the Nigerian people as a whole.

He raised concerns over local security operatives carrying prohibited arms, and said the police had assured them that the matter would be investigated and called for the findings to be made public and ensure justice is served.

# The Anambra State Police Command, through its operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, on the evening of 22nd August 2025, received a suspected illegal Chinese miner from operatives of the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA Brigade).

The suspect, identified as Mu Hua Qiang, 45 years old, a resident of Aguleri, was arrested for his alleged involvement in illegal mining operations within the Aguleri axis. His statement has been voluntarily obtained, and he has been placed in lawful custody for further investigation.

# The Chairman Anambra State House Committee on Media and Publicity, Hon. Ejike Okechukwu says the lawmaker representing Ayamelum Constituency Hon. Bernard Udemezue was never summoned for raising the plight of his people.

Hon. Okechukwu maintained that Udemezue was summoned due to
pending matters before the Committee on Ethics and Privileges based on separate petitions.

Making clarification Hon. Okechukwu who is the member representing Anaocha two constituency stated that ordinarily, the House would not dignify such unfounded claims with a response, but for the sake of truth and to keep Ndi Anambra well informed, the record must be set straight.

# The Anambra State Police Command has received reports of a protest against security operatives in the State.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations DCP Ibrahim Ezekiel receiving the report on behalf of the Command assures members of the public, especially Ndi Anambra, that the matter is receiving the necessary attention. He notes that in line with its mandate to maintain peace and security, the Command will engage relevant State security stakeholders and partners to ensure that appropriate actions are taken to address the concerns raised, in accordance with the law and established procedures.

The Command further reiterates that the establishment of security outfits operating within Anambra State was borne out of the collective will and consensus of Ndi Anambra, with the sole aim of strengthening community safety, enhancing rapid response, and sustaining peace and security across the State.

The Police Command remains committed to protecting lives and property, promoting lawful engagement, and working closely with all stakeholders to sustain peace and security in Anambra State.

# Stakeholders in flood disaster management in Anambra State have commended the Justice Development and Peace Caritas (JDPC) Onitsha for its Flood Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Project currently running in twelve communities of Ogbaru Local Government Area.

The project, funded by Catholic Relief Services (CRS), has combined Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) strategies with Sustainable livelihood Approach, reaching thousands in one of Anambra’s most flood-prone local government areas.

The commendations came during the validation of a Community Emergency Management Committee (CEMC) Handbook, developed to guide communities in flood preparedness and response after the intervention ends.

Peculiar Orji, Disaster Management Coordinator of the Nigerian Red Cross, Anambra, described the handbook as a “crucial resource” for Ogbaru LGA.

# Telemedicine, a technological mode of providing medical care and consultations remotely, in which patients and healthcare providers connect through video calls, phone calls, or messaging, enabling diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up without needing to visit a medical facility in person.

Considering the gains, Anambra State Government has held a meeting with its Health workers especially Doctors from around the state to discuss processes of distributing this attributes in earnest and effectively.

The meeting held at the Data Centre of the Ministry of Health, Awka was at the initiatives of the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike.

# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has conducted a scheduled inspection visit to Golf Residency Estate in Awka.

This initiative underscores his administration’s commitment to partner with the private sector to provide affordable and sustainable housing solutions for Anambra people.

The Golf Residency Estate is one of the estates along the stretch of newly constructed road stretching through Amansea, Awa, Ndiukwuenu and Ufuma communities.
