# The Anambra State Chairman of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Lady Esther Anyaegbunam, says the association is developing a plan to turning the state into a hub for film making, entertainment and a destination for Nollywood destination in Nigeria.

Lady Esther revealed this while speaking to the press during activities marking her one year in office. To mark the anniversary, the association embarked on visitation to hospitals, orphanage homes, and organized a workshop for members.

Recounting some of the achievements recorded within her first year in office such as the restoration peace to the guild and strengthening of the guilds zonal structures to function better, and welfare packages for veterans, Lady Esther appealed Governor Chukwuma Soludo to extend more support to the creative industry in the state.

 

# The Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide in Anambra State has cautioned celebrity, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, (VDM), over his comments regarding the burial of an Anambra-based entrepreneur, Martins Onyekesi, who was murdered by gunmen in June, 2025.

Late Onyekesi, who is the Chief Executive Officer of a fish business, known as Fish Magnet, was shot and kidnapped in his Ezinifite-Okpuno residence, and despite the family allegedly paying a N10 million naira ransom, he eventually died after release.

VeryDarkMan has been billed to attend the candlelight procession for the deceased businessman scheduled for Tuesday.

Reacting, the Anambra State President of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu expressed dismay at the comments of the celebrity, saying the state is not exactly in the light it is being painted.

 

# Pechilly Investigative Media has officially unveiled its office in Onitsha, marking a transformative step in the pursuit of truth-driven journalism and enhanced societal security.

# Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) Chairman, Chikelue Iloenyosi
reflects on his tenure, describing it as “three years of administrative excellence and visionary leadership.”

Speaking as he marked his 3rd anniversary in office, the ex-international
maintained that before his emergence, Anambra football was fragmented by internal divisions, leadership disputes, and dysfunctional associations.

“My first significant achievement was restoring harmony across all affiliate bodies, the Coaches’ Association, Club Owners, Referees Council, and others. Today, these entities operate cohesively under a unified vision for football.” Iloenyosi said.

# It was a double celebration; as the traditional ruler of Alor community, Igwe Mac-Anthony Okonkwo has commemorated his eleventh years on the throne, as well as the annual new yam festival of the community.

The Igwe’s palace in Umuokwu village, Alor in Idemili South Council Area was filled up; as Traditional Rulers, titled men and women, family members, associates, friends, political appointees and well-wishers of the king converged to felicitate him.

In his remark, Igwe Okonkwo explained that the new yam festival is an annual cultural event of Alor community celebrated with yam cultivated in Alor land, saying that anyone who participated in the festival will receive solutions to any challenge he or she is having.

Speaking on his eleven years on the throne, the royal father thanked God for the journey so far, his faithfulness to him, his family and the entire Alor community, and prayed that his blessings will continue to be with them.

# The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has described the Archbishop of the Niger Province and Bishop of Awka Diocese Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim as a true identity of a Shepherd whose roles as Archbishop and Bishop have greatly impacted positively on the spiritual lives of the people.

In his Goodwill Message to Archbishop Ibezim as he marks his 63rd birthday, Rt. Hon. Udeze said that the Archbishop has shown character, dedication, devotion and a high sense of evangelism in his work in God’s vineyard, evident in the massive transformation he has achieved in his Province and Diocese.

The Speaker who expressed deep satisfaction with the manner Archbishop Ibezim has been discharging his duties especially the impact his signature programme” Elshaddai” is creating on the lives of members of the Diocese, enjoined the Laity to support his evangelical mission.

Rt. Hon. Udeze commended Archbishop Ibezim for planting other religious and social agencies in the Diocese for the well-being of the people, noting that the students of the Paul University Awka, a University under his watch, have continued to distinguish themselves in character and learning.

He prayed God to add more years to Archbishop Ibezim and give him the strength to enable him to accomplish his spiritual mandate.

 

# In a bid to foster civil-military cooperation and fulfill its corporate social responsibility, Naval Outpost Onitsha, in collaboration with the Reproductive Health Community Development Service (CDS) Group of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Ogbaru Chapter, has hosted the maiden edition of the Ogbaru Inter-School Spelling Bee Competition.

The event, which combined fun and education, was held at Archbishop Obiefuna Secondary School, Iyiowa Odekpe.

In his remarks, the Commanding Officer of Naval Outpost Onitsha, Commander Kabir Yusuf, stated that the initiative reflects the Navy’s commitment to societal development and aligns with the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla’s vision to promote education and inspire the youth.

Commander Yusuf commended the participating students for their impressive performances, and encouraged them to remain dedicated to their academic pursuits for a successful future.

 

# New Auto Spare parts Market Nkpor Traders Association commenced a football tournament to foster friendship amongst themselves.

The tournament commenced with an
opening game at the United Primary School football pitch Nkpor Agu in Idemili North LGA, Anambra State as Sunshine FC (A1 – A5) defeated SkyLine FC (C 6B – C 11) by a penalty shootout (6 – 5).

Speaking during the opening ceremony, the innovative New Auto Spare parts Market Nkpor Chairman, Chief Stephen Oforleh explained the importance of sports saying that it unites people, fosters peace and friendship, enhances good health and helps people unwind after long stressful business activities.

Furthermore, Oforleh thanked the traders and major sponsors of the football tournament ” New parts Football League 2025″ for their cooperation and unalloyed support pledging that he would continue to work with his executives for the best interest and welfare of the traders.

 

# SS Peter and Paul Model Secondary School, Okpoko has emerged the overall winner and received a trophy and a ₦200,000 cash prize at the maiden edition of the Ogbaru Inter-School Spelling Bee Competition.

Divine Destiny Secondary School, Iyiowa Odekpe secured second position with a ₦150,000 prize, while Archbishop Albert Obiefuna Secondary School, also in Iyiowa Odekpe, finished third and was received ₦100,000, including a certificate.

Speaking at the event, which combined fun and education, held at Archbishop Obiefuna Secondary School, Iyiowa Odekpe, the NYSC CDS group leader, Ms. Adequate Gbakinro, explained that the competition aimed to enhance students’ spelling abilities, boost their confidence, cultivate a love for reading and support their overall academic growth.
