* The Chairman, Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi, has pledged cordial working relationship with any Non-Governmental Organization, (NGO), with genuine interest and capacity to contribute to the growth and development of the local government.

Mrs. Obi gave the pledge while hosting the Tax Justice and Governance Platform, (TJ&GP), led by Mrs Ugochi Ehiahuruike, Executive Director, Social and Integral Development Centre, (SIDEC), to inform her about the Tax for Service project being implement in collaboration with Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, (CISLAC) and funded by Oxfam Nigeria.

“The local government is open to work with all groups with capacity to contribute to our resolve to give Idemili South good governance and speedy development. My resolve to develop the local government is non-negotiable and I am ready to welcome any individual or group with the capacity to help me achieve my dream”. Obi said

* The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to key security agencies in Anambra State,

CP. Orutugu also visited the Commander of the 302 Artillery Regiment (General Support), Onitsha, the Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The Police Commissioner in his speech said the visit is to fostering stronger inter-agency collaboration in tackling security challenges within the state.

CP Orutugu emphasized the need for seamless coordination, intelligence sharing, and resource integration among security agencies to enhance public safety and sustain ongoing joint operations in critical areas of the state.

* The Women Initiative For Greater Anambra (WIGA), led by the convener, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has reaffirmed their unalloyed support for administration of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and described him as the outstanding Governor in the history of Anambra State.

Hon. Obi while speaking during the first strategic meeting in 2025, appreciated the executives for their efforts towards the progress of the group.

Obi said that Governor Soludo deserves all the accolades for his unprecedented infrastructural projects in the State especially in human capital development, free antenatal and free delivery, free education and providing security in the state.

She urged the executives to continue spreading the good works of Mr. Governor at the grassroot level, adding that Charly Nwa Mgbafor has turned the state to construction site and his re-election is sacrosanct.

* Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC), at its second meeting of the year, which took place in the Council Chamber on February 10, 2025, gave Operation Udo Ga-Achi, the state’s new security intervention, a high rating and urged it not to relent.

Dr. Law Mefor, Commissioner for Information Anambra State in a press release, stated that ANSEC while reviewing the impact of the new Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025, chastised those demonising and misrepresenting the new law as being against traditional worship, noting that it is an essential component of Igbo traditional religion and culture.

The Council restated that the new law was designed to combat crime and criminality committed by quacks and evil native doctors, particularly those who pervert and alter the core values of the Igbo society, those who promote and teach the acquisition of wealth without work, and those who deceive the younger generation and unwary members of society.

ANSEC further reaffirmed that the State Government has not and will not outlaw traditional worship. The Council further called for moral rearmament and social re-engineering to restore the lost values of the society and ensure a healthy future for the state.

* Bishop Crowther Seminary, Awka has held its 31st Inter-house sports competition to afford its students the opportunity to experience all round development.

The competition held at the school premises had in attendance the students of the Seminary dressed in their jerseys according to the eleven houses they belong to, teachers, parents, students from invited schools, and sports enthusiasts like the Managing Director of ABS, Mr Christopher Molokwu.

Themed, “Sports: A Veritable Tool In Curbing The Menace Of Social Vices Among Youths”, featured match past, football tournament, athletics, staff, and parent races.

White House took first position, Purple House came second while Green House came third.

* Frontline governorship aspirant for the November 8 gubernatorial election in Anambra State under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sir Paul Chukwuma says the party’s mission is to return governance to the people, strengthen grassroots support, and integrate the state into national politics.

Sir. Chukwuma while speaking in Awka, during the official commissioning of a new APC office by the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, recently, stressed that no amount of blackmail will stop him from becoming the Governor of Anambra State on November 8.”

Chukwuma cautioned new members against sidelining long-standing party members, stating that fresh entrants should first understand the party’s structures before scrambling for its ticket.

* The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Rt. Rev. Samuel Ezeofor has blamed the problem of the present day Christianity on apostasy and false prophets working against the true word of God.

In a sermon at the Cathedral Church of Saint John, Ekwulobia during a special service of collation and installation of Venerables Ifeanyi Mgbemene and Henry Okonkwo as Archdeacons, Bishop Ezeofor who regretted that the faith of the present Christians is under serious attack, charged Ministers of God to rise and withstand the attack on the faith of the children of God.

The Anglican Prelate who maintained that God knows how to treat the wicked people, called on Christians to always live lives of preservation; warning them against contradicting their faith with idolatry.

He also urged the newly collated Archdeacons not to see their elevation as a mere appointment but a call for more effort in winning souls for Christ in addition to bringing the needed transformation in the society.

* The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) had raided the popular drug market at Bridge Head, Onitsha, Anambra State, confiscating large quantities of suspected substandard, adulterated, and expired drugs worth millions of naira.

The operation, led by the Director of NAFDAC South East Zone, Dr. Martins Iluyomade, took the traders by surprise as the team moved from shop to shop, removing a wide range of drugs.

Products found to be fake or counterfeit included antibiotics, antihypertensive drugs, anti-diabetic drugs, anti-asthmatic medications, aphrodisiacs, antimalarials, anti-inflammatory drugs, herbal remedies, and psychoactive drugs.

There were also banned drugs such as analgin, tramadol (above 100 mg), gentamycin (280 mg), codeine, controlled substances, vaccines, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, cosmetics, chemicals, unwholesome food, empty plastics, bags, cans, and other items.

* The Commissioner of Police Anambra State Police Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu
has paid an unscheduled visit to the Rapid Response Squad Formation, Awkuzu.

During the visit, the CP charged the Officers to show more commitment to duty and improve on timely response to incidents. He further advocates for a facelift of the current structure in the State.

The Commissioner has also continued his patrol/visiting rounds across the State.

The places patrolled include: Onitsha, Umunya, Airport Road, Nteje, Ogidi, Ukpo and many other places.

* Nigeria National League (NNL) side Solution FC, have sealed their place in the semi final of the 2025 NEROS/ANSF President Federation Cup following a 3-1 thrashing of Game Changers FC in Tuesday’s quarter final thriller at Rojenny Stadium, Oba, near Onitsha.
