* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has underscored the importance of youth empowerment as a crucial solution to the growing issue of youth restiveness in Nigeria.
Soludo’s remarks came during an empowerment program hosted by the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church in Lagos, where he emphasized the multifaceted approach his administration is taking towards tackling youth challenges in the region.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Governor Soludo notably discussed the impact of the “One Youth Two Skills” initiative, which aims to equip young individuals with vocational skills that enhance employability.
* Members of the African Traditional Practitioners have faulted the Anambra State Homeland Security Law recently passed by the state Assembly, alleging that the law is bias against their activities and mode of worshiping their god.
Addressing a press conference in Awka, the Supreme Leader of the Traditional Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Dibia Chukwuma Ezeruonye, flanked by other members, insisted that, contrary to negative opinions making the rounds in the state, traditional religion worshippers are law abiding people who are also contributing their quota to the development of the state.
Ezeruonye pointed out that since the state homeland security law was passed, traditional religion worshippers have been maligned, called all sorts of names and also facing a lot of intimidation and baseless accusations over the happenings in the state.
He also advised the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo that his assertion that “Anambra will no longer be a home for traditional practices”, demands careful reconsideration, adding that such a declaration is “historically, culturally, and constitutionally erroneous.”
* The First Lady of Anambra State Mrs Nonye Soludo, has intervened in the alleged rape incident involving a 56-year-old pastor who brutally raped a four-year-old minor in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.
The Governor’s wife who received official reports of the case from the Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, noted that with the serious nature of the issue, she has mobilized every legal action to ensure that thorough justice is served.
At around 11:30 am via telemedicine consultation, the staff member on duty and officer in charge of Model Primary Health Centre, Obosi, called the Senior Medical Officer of Health and Supervisor of Health in Idemili North over a case of a four-year-old girl who was alleged to have been sexually abused by a 56-year-old man, Mr Emeka Mkama who hails from Ebonyi State and is a pastor at Jesus Build the Church Mission, Obosi in Idemili North
* The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, Comdt. Maku Olatunde has highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Local Government authorities and security agencies in maintaining peace and security in Anambra State.
Commandant Maku stated this over the weekend when he received Hon. Van- George Ezeogidi, the Mayor of Nnewi South Local Government Area, of Anambra State on a familiarization visit at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters Awka.
Maku assured the Mayor of the Command’s commitment to swift and professional responses to any emerging security threats in the LGA with special focus on intelligence – driven operations on major flashpoints within the council area.
Responding, Hon. George’s Chinedu thanked the NSCDC for its contributions to the security measures put in place to ensure Anambra State is free from crimes and criminality. He expressed satisfaction with the NSCDC performance under Commandant Maku’s command, promising to partner with the Corps in its efforts in the protection of Critical National State and Local Government Assets and infrastructure particularly in making Nnewi South safe for residents to carry out their lawful businesses.
* A priest of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, Rev. Fr Jude Muokwe has allegedly beaten up a 50-year-old widow, Mrs Ikeorah Maureen from Ifitedunu in Dunukofia Local Government Area, Anambra State.
Maureen, is currently traumatized and in severe pains following her recent ugly ordeal in the hand of a reverend father who allegedly brutalized her.
According to sources, the priest, who is also the Manager of the Angel Primary School, Ifitedunu, a mission school where the widow works as a teacher, had inflicted varied degrees injuries on the widow after flogging her with cane and slapping her at the time.
This was corroborated by a video currently trending on social media, showing the widow crying helplessly while recounting her ordeal. The video also samples some of the bodily injuries inflicted on the widow.
* Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik) student expelled for assaulting a lecturer,
Chimamaka Precious Goddy-Mbakwe has personally apologized to Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, in an emotional meeting.
Precious visited Dr. Okoye alongside her parents, siblings, well-wishers, and some university staff to express sincere remorse over her actions.
“The girl’s father made it clear that their visit was not to influence the university’s disciplinary action but simply to ask the lecturer to find a place in his heart to forgive his daughter. They wanted him to know they regretted her actions and were deeply sorry.” the source said.
In response, Dr. Okoye comforted her and assured her of his forgiveness.
* The immediate past member that represented Anambra East Constituency an the Anambra State House of Assembly, Pharmacist Obinna Emeneka says only an atmosphere of peace and conviviality can bring socioeconomic development to any society.
Hon Emeneka who was speaking when the traditional rulers of Umuoba Anam, Igwe George Obalum-Ekwealor and his Eziagulu Otu Aguleri counterpart, Igwe Lawrence Nwofia who had communal clashes recently visited him, commended them for vouching that peace and unity will return to their communities.
According to the former Lawmaker the two monarchs have reconciled and agreed to go back and talk to their people to ceasefire forthwith.

* Police Operatives attached to 3-3 Divisional Headquaters, on an intelligent-led information investigation, arrested one Mr Odinakachukwu Okorie, Ifunanya Ogbonna and a fake medical doctor Mr Daniel Ikebuilo, and rescued ten (10) looking malnourished Children in an apartment in Inland-town Onitsha.

* Popular comedian, Johnmary Chukwumesiri, also known as ‘Ogbuefi I Go Tuk’, is set to be honored with the “Best Comedian of the Year Award, 2024” in a special ceremony that will take place in Anambra.
