* The Orumba South Young Progressive Party (YPP) executives have declared their total support for Prince Samben Nwosu’s senatorial ambition ahead of the 2025 senatorial elections in Anambra South.

The declaration of total support came during an interactive session between the former Federal Commissioner and the YPP party executives in Orumba South LGA on Friday, February 21, 2025.

The event also featured the symbolic handing over of the political mantra to immortalize the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s legacies in the Senate.

* The Bishop of Nnewi, Anglican Diocese, Rt Rev’d Ndubuisi Obi has installed Thirteen (13) priests of the Diocese as Canons of the Cathedral.

The newly installed Canons while taking oaths vowed to render true Canonical Obedience to the bishop and his successors as well as maintain their unwavering allegiance to God.

In his sermon, the preacher and the Rector of New Life Anglican Church San Anthonio Texas, USA, Ven Austine  Okafor charged the newly installed canons to remain humble and shun pride in their service to God.

He reminded them that it is a privilege to be promoted to their new rank, and therefore should not use it to oppress and trample on others.

* Solution Students Movement of Nigeria (SSMN) have demanded that Governor Chukwuma Soludo seek re-election, citing his achievements in education, infrastructural development and security.

The call was made during the launch of the movement at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Igbariam campus, which attracted thousands of students from various institutions.

Speaking on behalf of 16 Students Union Government (SUG) leaders, the Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council, Anambra State, Comrade Okoye Matthew Okpara, declared the student support for Soludo’s second term.

* The Management of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, under the leadership of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu, has commenced the reconstruction of the vandalized perimeter fence at the university’s main gate and its environs.

Recall that some criminal elements in Anambra State, who parade themselves as metal scrap dealers (popularly known as “Iron Condemn), had repeatedly vandalized the fence, carting away its metal components, especially those along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.

These nefarious activities left parts of the university exposed, raising security concerns among students, staff, and other members of the University community.

According to the school Management, the ongoing re-construction aligns with Prof. Ikechebelu’s commitment to enhancing security and improving infrastructure across the institution.

* Catholic priest, Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, aka Fada Ebube Muonso, has accused the Anambra State Police Command and Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration of shielding the killers of lawmaker Hon. Justice Azuka.

Fr. Ebube Muonso made the allegation in a video sighted by News Band Newspaper.

He alleged that the late lawmaker, who represented Onitsha 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly under the Labour Party (LP), was assassinated because he did not belong to the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The fiery priest accused the police of accepting bribe from powerful individuals behind Azuka’s killing, by intentionally facilitating the escape of the two suspects arrested in connection with the ruthless murder.

* The Anglican Bishop on the Niger, Rt. Rev. Owen Nwokolo, has called on Christians to allow the will of God prevail in their lives and avoid ungodly act.

Bishop Nwokolo made the call in his sermon during this year’s Anglican Students’ Association Convention Day celebration held at All Saints Cathedral Church, Onitsha.

Nwokolo who harped on the need for the students to be hardworking and live a holy life stated that preaching the word of God wherever they find themselves will bring total transformation and development in society.

Some of the students at the convention eulogized the Bishop for celebrating their day with them and promised to live above board.

* Businessman Mr. Uzoeto Sabest has accused Onitsha South Local Government Area Chairman, Chief Emeka Orji, of unlawfully demolishing his property worth over N700 million.

Speaking to journalists at the site of the demolished buildings on Silas Works Road, Onitsha, Mr. Sabest described the demolition as an act of “insensitivity, callousness, and high-handedness.”

He called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo, to intervene and ensure justice is served.

Mr. Sabest, who claimed to possess a valid Certificate of Occupancy (C of O), an approved building plan, and all other necessary documents for the land, alleged that Orji ignored due process and disregarded an ongoing court case concerning the property.

* The Commissioner of Police, CP. Ikioye
Orutugu has engaged Officers in charge of Surveillance, Patrol, and Guard units across the Divisional Headquarters within the Command.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that CP. Orutugu charged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, vigilance, and efficiency in ensuring public safety, maintaining law and order, and responding swiftly to security incidents.

According to a press statement by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer Anambra State Command, the engagement aligns with the Command’s ongoing strategic initiatives to enhance policing operations and service delivery across Anambra State.

CP Orutugu reiterated the need for officers to provide prompt and effective security interventions, emphasizing their role in fostering public trust and confidence in the Police Force.

In furtherance of his commitment to strengthening the security architecture of the state, CP Orutugu also facilitated the deployment of newly passed-out recruits to various Police Divisions.

He urged all officers to remain courageous, disciplined, and professional in the discharge of their duties, assuring residents of improved policing services and a safer environment.

* The Anambra Youth Movement (AYM), has urged the public to exercise restraints over comments and speculations regarding the health situation of Ozo Jeff Nweke, a suspect in the alleged kidnap of Benjamin Ezenma.

In the statement signed by the chairman of the non-political, socio-cultural youth body in the state, Mr Johnson Maduka, the group lamented the intense public interest Nweke’s court appearance has generated.

The group said it has become imperative that people should respect judicial process and avoid sensationalism as court goes into examining Nweke’s health situation.

* The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP. Ikioye Orutugu has conducted a facility assessment tour of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Formation in Akwuzu alongside Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

During the tour, CP Orutugu briefed Governor Soludo on the operational readiness of the Command, particularly in its efforts to re-arrest the fleeing suspects involved in the heinous murder of Hon. Justice Azuka, a member representing Onitsha 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly.

CP. Orutugu further outlined the proactive measures being implemented to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
