# Chief Dr. Ebuka Onunkwo, Aspirant for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the forthcoming Anambra South Senatorial bye-election, has emphasized the need for more dedicated and exemplary party members like the late Chief Maja Emeka Alex Umeh.

Onunkwo made this statement during a condolence visit to the family of the late Umeh, a revered APGA stalwart and former Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism.

The CEO of Seahorse Lubricant Industries Ltd., described Maja Umeh as a politician whose outstanding legacies deserve to be immortalized.

He praised Umeh’s dedication, integrity, and statesmanship, noting his significant contributions to the cultural renaissance of the Igbo people and his selfless service to APGA and Anambra State.

# The Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Jonas Benson Okoye, escaped death after his vehicle was involved in an accident along Agulu Lake Road on their return from Ukpor to Agulu.

Accompanying him were two of his priests.

The three men were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, and all are currently receiving treatment under medical supervision.

Confirming this in a statement shared via social media, the Catholic Treasure Facebook page expressed gratitude that no life was lost in the incident.

“Thank God for the life of our dear Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Jonas Benson Okoye and two of his priests… Thanks be to God!” the post reads.

# The 31st Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has honoured the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi, with an Outstanding Leadership Award.

Presenting the Award recently during a courtesy visit led by the SUG President, Comrade Eze Samuel commended the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Arinze-Umobi, on her motherly role in the student community and recognized her as the SUG Patron of the Year 2024/2025.

In her reaction, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi, appreciated the Students’ Union Government for their kind gestures and assured them of her continued motherly role, reiterating that they are her children.

# In preparation for the Anambra Governorship election draws near, the Solution Witness Support Group has paid a courtesy visit to the the Executive Chairman of Njikoka LGA, Barr Chinedu Ononiba, to strategise on delivering votes for Governor Soludo second tenure.

Address Mayor, Deputy National Leader of the group, Hon Ebelechukwu Igboekunie Ngini, disclosed that Solution Witness is saddled with the responsibility of canvassing for votes and also protecting the votes for Governor Charles Soludo.

In his remark, State Chairman, Sir Felix Okechukwu, disclosed that the works of Soludo cannot be emphasised which he maintained was all about capacity, and the reason we all have gathered to prove to the APGA that we can get to the grassroots level and garner more votes for Governor Soludo.

Responding, the Mayor of Njikoka LGA, Hon. Chinedu Ononiba welcomed the Solution Witness. He noted that as long as Anambra is concerned, APGA remains the ruling party.

Ononiba however, charged Solution Witness to continue to be stronger, deepening grassroots levels and ensuring a massive vote for Mr Governor. He reminded the newly joined party faithful to stand firm and show capacity, which is vital in politics.

# In a renewed push to ensure the successful implementation of the Smart School initiative across Anambra State, a team of monitors visited selected Smart Schools in the Otuocha Educational Zone.

The visit, which marks a critical step in evaluating the preparedness of schools for the digital learning revolution being championed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration, saw the team assess facilities and gather feedback directly from the field.

The monitoring team was led by Iyida Nnaemeka of Edves, a tech-driven educational solutions provider. He was joined by Azubike Chinecherem from the Ministry of Budget and Planning, with coordination support from the Post Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC), Otuocha Zone, ably led by the Zonal Director of Education, Mrs. Nkoli Agbata, and Mrs. Vivian Nwando.

The two key institutions that were visited are Justice Chinwuba Memorial Secondary School, Aguleri and Amikwe Community Secondary School, Omor.

During the visit, the team interfaced with school administrators and teaching staff, who outlined key challenges affecting the immediate take-off of the Smart School programme. These includes:

Speaking on behalf of the teaching staff at Amikwe Community Secondary School, Omor, the Principal, Mrs. Ifediegwu Benedeth Ugochukwu (JP), expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Solution Governor, His Excellency Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, for identifying her school as the pioneer Smart School in the entire Ayamelum Local Government Area.

# The Convener/National Coordinator of Soludo Women’s Movement, Lady Ify Atogu has lauded wife of the Mayor of Anambra East, Mrs Chinwe Chinweze for her efforts towards the progress of women in the council area.

Atogu made this statement as Mrs. Chinweze holds women’s summit at the council secretariat, Otuocha, Anambra East, stating that Mayor Chinweze and his wife, Mrs Chinweze are doing marvellously well.

While urging women to take the message of Solution government to every nook and crannies of their ward, she added Governor Soludo has performed beyond expectations and Anambra East women will vote massively for him.

# The Labour Party (LP) had officially launched its 2025 governorship campaign at the All Saints Cathedral field in Onitsha.

The grand event, held in anticipation of the upcoming November 8 election, drew overwhelming support for the LP’s governorship candidate, Dr. George Moghalu, from both prominent political figures and a spirited crowd of supporters.

At the forefront of the campaign were LP’s 2023 presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi, Senator Victor Umeh (Anambra Central), and Senator Tony Nwoye (Anambra North).

In his address, Mr. Peter Obi reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the Labour Party, clarifying his continued membership and his role in the coalition that has adopted the ADC platform for the 2027 presidential elections.

Obi called on Anambra citizens to back Moghalu, describing him as the most qualified and visionary choice for leadership.

# The Chieftain of All Progressive Grand Alliance, Hon. Tochukwu Umeobiaeri has urged electorate to take part in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), to be able to participate in the upcoming elections.

Umeobiaeri made this statement when he visited Fegge ward 3 registration centre in Onitsha South LGA, stating that taking part in the exercise was the only way electorate could have their choice of leaders.

He urged Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), to engage in more aggressive campaign towards sensitising the electorate to CVR.

# Mr. Peter Obi officially presented the Labour Party flag to Chief Dr. George Moghalu, confirming him as the party’s official flag bearer.

In his acceptance speech, Moghalu thanked the party leadership and supporters, pledging to serve with transparency, purpose, and divine guidance. He and Mrs. Okaro expressed a shared commitment to usher Anambra into an era of enduring prosperity.
