# The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to tackle the scourge of drug and substance abuse in the state.
The NSCDC Anambra State Commandant,
Maku Olatunde made the pledge when he received on a courtesy visit, the newly deployed NDLEA Anambra State boss , Commander of Narcotics Onubuogu Charles at the State Command Headquarters Awka.
Welcoming the NDLEA Anambra State Commander and his team, Commandant Maku harped on the need to sustain the existing robust relationship between the two agencies.
Maku assured the NDLEA Commander of his commitment to providing operational and intelligence support to the agency, in its efforts to rid the state of drug dealers . Highlighting the dangers of drug abuse, he pledged to collaborate with the NDLEA to reduce its prevalence in the state.
The NSCDC boss extended congratulations to the new NDLEA State Commander on his deployment, attributing it to his impressive track record, commitment, and experience. He wished the commander a successful tenure in office.
# The Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Dr. Ejimofor Opara says the Anambra Geographic Information System (ANAMGIS), is a major breakthrough that has put the protracted scams around land administration in the State to a perfect rest.
Mazi Ejimofor Opara, who is also the
National Public Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) maintained that there are fundamental reforms brought about by Soludo’s foundational recalibration of the State on the path of coordinated development.
” Yesterday, I wrote about the Anambra Vision 2070 document that marked the beginning of a Structured roadmap for ndi Anambra. Drawing from this, “the people’s manifesto for greater Anambra” was borne, dubbed the “Soludo Solution”.
“One of such strategic recalibration is in the land documentation processes and management systems.
“Anambra now has a one stop website for all land verification and registration issues. This never existed and those who do not understand the importance of institutionalizing reforms would think development is a quick-fix or mere sloganeering.
“Leadership is about intentionality, not manipulating people into believing without querying. Truth is, a lie told unchallenged becomes true. This is why no one must support falsehoods even if the intentions were lofty”. Dr. Opara stated.
# A grassroots football coach, Benson Udeh has appealed to Super Eagles Star’s, Raphael Onyedika to look his way and support him in his ailment.
Coach Udeh who has been restricted to a wheelchair for ten (10) years made the appeal in Awka, Anambra State.
Udeh said he was particularly happy with the quick rise of Onyedika from an amateur player about four years ago to an international and professional player.
# Deputy Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly and Member representing Njikoka II Constituency, Hon. Jude Akpua attended the joint meeting of APGA stakeholders and executives from Abba Wards 1 and 2, held at Ama Umuakulu-Okpuloji Village, Abba.
The highlight of the meeting was the formal welcome of N. Dr. Christopher Sunday Nwazojie known into the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Hon. Akpua described N. Dr. Nwazojie as a “super stakeholder” in Abba whose influence, presence, and acceptance into APGA would further solidify the party’s strength in the community. He emphasized the urgent need for party unity and grassroots mobilization to ensure the re-election of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
# The newly deployed National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Anambra State Commander, Mr. Onubuogu Charles
says combating drug abuse is a collective responsibility, as its negative impacts affect everyone.
Speaking during a visit to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Awka, Onubuogu stated that the purpose of his visit was to establish a strong rapport and solicit robust support from the Corps.
Onubuogu expressed his eagerness to enhance the partnership between the NDLEA and NSCDC in tackling drug abuse in the state and advocated for increased cooperation between both agencies,
adding that no agency can operate effectively in isolation, regardless of its specific role, and stressed that collaboration is essential to successfully combat crime and meet individual agency goals.
# The 15th Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) Meeting, held at the Light House, in Awka, reaffirmed the state’s contractor payment system, ensuring that no contractor is owed.
Anambra Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, through a press release stated the ANSEC made the following significant decisions:
“The Council reviewed the success of Cohort 1 of the Soludo administration’s flagship youth empowerment program, where 7,163 out of 11,000 trainees excelled in 65 skill areas.
“Additionally, 235 Umuboi (apprentices) from the Local Enterprise Development of 21 local governments in the state were successful, with over 1,000 millionaires emerging from the graduates. Funds for the empowerment of Cohort 2 were approved, as they are ready for commissioning.
“The Council approved the Awka City Park Project, which will provide environmental, aesthetic, and recreational benefits to the Awka capital city, along with social, health, and economic benefits. Work on the project is set to begin without delay.
“The Council approved the release of N2,835,150,000 for the following projects:
1Youth 2Skills Business Financing Scheme, N2,588,520,000
“1Youth 2Skills Cooperatives Start-up, N141,900,000. Graduation and Certification, N73,230,000. 1Youth 2Skills Mentorship Scheme, N31,000,000, and
Consolation to the Deceased Family: N500,000.
# The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP. Ikioye Orutugu has been honoured with the prestigious award of “Best Crime Fighter – Man of the Year 2025” by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory Council.
The award, which was presented at a special event held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja, during FCT Press Week Lecture and Awards Ceremony.
NUJ at the event themed “Journalism in a Changing World: Press Freedom, Media, Democracy and Society”, recognized the CP Orutugu’s exceptional leadership, dedication to duty, and strategic approach to crime prevention and community safety in Anambra State.
CP Orutugu, while receiving the award, dedicated it to the gallant officers of the Command and reaffirmed his resolve to continue working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all residents and visitors in Anambra State.
The Police boss assured ndi Anambra State of its continued commitment to service, professionalism, and excellence in policing.
# The Chairman of Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA), Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi has been invited to attend the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Annual General Meeting and Season Draws as a Special Guest.
The invitation to the ANSFA Chairman was made public through a letter dated 22nd July, 2025 endorsed by Barr. Danladi Ibrahim, Secretary to the Board and Legal Adviser.
The event is scheduled for Monday, 28th July, 2025 by 10am at the Wazobia Hall, Abuja Continental Hotel (formerly Sheraton), Abuja.
# The candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, Mr John Chuma Nwosu has said the process would be a test case for the party to show it’s capacity in the 2027 general election in Nigeria.
Nwosu who was at the St Faith Anglican Cathedral Awka, for the Thanksgiving and Dedication of the party’s campaign which commences this August noted that the ADC as a party of great Nigerians is poised towards instilling good and populist governance in the country.
He charged church leaders in the country to continue to pray for the end of what he called bad governance in Nigeria.
