# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has
insisted that he has no challenger in the November 8, 2025 governorship election in the state, saying that his challengers are only in the race to raise funds.

Speaking during the Anambra Central Senatorial District stakeholders and support groups endorsement rally held at the Alex Ekwueme Square Awka, Soludo said anyone working against his second term will just be disrupting the seamless zoning in the state, and delaying the turn of the central zone to take the governorship seat.

The governor announced that his campaign team will be announced in the nearest future.

# The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has concluded the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Anambra State with a total of 168,187 new registrants.

This is the highest number recorded within two weeks in Anambra state since the Commission introduced the process in 2017.

This was disclosed by National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), Mr. Sam Olumekun, in a statement issued following the Commission’s weekly meeting in Abuja.

According to Mr. Olumekun, the CVR, which was initially scheduled to end on July 17th, was extended by three days to July 20th, 2025, in response to appeals from stakeholders.

# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has warmly congratulated Nigeria’s Super Falcons on their spectacular victory in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Cup on Saturday at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.

In his goodwill message, signed by Press Secretary to the Governor, Christian Aburime, Soludo lauded the Super Falcons for displaying incredible resilience and an indomitable spirit, coming from behind in the second half of the match to defeat a formidable Moroccan side by 3:2 score in a thrilling final, thus bringing immense pride and joy to our nation.

The Governor observed that the Super Falcons’ triumph has been a result of the hard work, dedication, and teamwork of every player and the entire coaching staff.

“The unforgettable comeback win, their 10th WAFON title, also once again confirms the immense potential within Nigerian sports and serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes across the country, particularly our young women.

“As Anambra State has always been a strong advocate for sports development and gender equality, Governor Soludo is particularly delighted to see the Super Falcons continue to break barriers and achieve greatness on the international stage, a reminder of what can be achieved with focus and perseverance.

“Therefore, the Governor joins the Federal Government, the Nigeria Football Federation, and all Nigerians in celebrating this remarkable achievement and looks forward to even greater successes from the Super Falcons in future competitions.’ the press release stated.

# The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.Somtochukwu Udeze has described Christianity as the foundation of human development in view of the numerous accomplishments of the early missionaries towards exposing and lighting up of the dark environments with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Felicitating Christians of Igbo extraction on the 168 years of the coming of Christianity to Igbo land known as the CMS Anniversary, Rt.Hon.Udeze noted that without Christianity, Ndi Igbo would have remained in the dark age of idolatry, barbarism and other related punitive and obnoxious practices.

The Speaker who enumerated some of the achievements and gains of the CMS to include establishment of churches, schools, hospitals as well as stoppage of killing of twins and slave trade among others, called on the present day Christians to sustain those efforts and work towards the advancement of Christianity in all ramifications.

He extolled the efforts of some of the prominent early missionaries like Bishop Ajayi Crowder, Archbishop John Patterson, Rev.John-Christopher Taylor and Catechist Simon Jonas whose strong faith in God and deep evangelical prowess brought light and development to the Eastern part of Nigeria despite numerous challenges.

# Stakeholders and support groups in Anambra Central Senatorial District has endorsed Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim as consensus candidate in the upcoming November 8th governorship election.

In their separate speeches, the chairman, planning Committee, Chief. Dozie Nwankwo, former aviation minister, Bar. Osita Chidoka, Chief Okey Muo Aroh, Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, Anambra APGA Chiarman, Barr. Ifeatu Obiokoye and Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye said their endorsement of Soludo for a second term was based on his performance in office and his broad vision to make Anambra state a destination.

They promised to go back to their wards, mobilise voters and ensure that the governor is re-elected come November 8, 2025.

The Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, read a communique on behalf of the Anambra Central senatorial district, formally endorsing Soludo’s candidacy and affirming the zone’s commitment to upholding the arrangement for fairness, equity and peaceful co-existence.

# A 24-year-old man, Mr. Chinecherem Okoli, has confessed to the defilement of a 5-year-old child in Anambra State.

The suspect, who hails from Ekwulobia in Aguata LGA of the state, made the confession in a video that has gone viral on social media while being interrogated for the crime.

The suspect, who committed the crime inside a nearby bush, was apprehended after a CCTV camera in the area captured him leading the little girl into the bush. The victim was said to have been sent on an errand to buy something on the said date, Wednesday, before the suspect accosted her on the way.

# Anambra State High Court Ogidi sitting at Onitsha and presided over by Justice Alex Okuma has adjourned to 3rd October 2025 for judgement in a murder case the state government brought against one Chiugo Ajuluchukwu; from Umuezema Village Ojoto in Idemili South LGA.

Chiugo Ajuluchukwu is standing trial for allegedly killing his stepmother, Ifeoma Ajuluchukwu, on or about 15th January 2024 by beating her till she fell down, was hospitalized and died, offence contrary to Section 274(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 36, Vol. II, Revised Laws of Anambra State 1991.

Addressing the court, Counsel to the defendant, U. C Kalu, argued that in the final written address to the court, the Prosecution did not prove that the action of the defendant caused the death of the deceased; neither did witnesses, reason he urged the court to discharge and acquit his client on all counts of the charges against him, while Assistant Chief State Counsel, Amara Muojeke; with the brief of the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Sylvia Ifemeje, urged the court to hold that the Prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt based on the argument in its final written address dated and filed on 22nd July, and to convict the accused as charged.

# The Anambra State Government, through the Ministry of Health, has sealed Madonna Mercy Maternity and Clinic, Uruagwu Nnewi, Nnewi North LGA for operating illegally since 2018, as well as operating with unqualified medical personnel in a dirty environment.

Speaking after the exercise, the Acting Director of Medical Services in the state Ministry of Health, Dr. Ugochukwu Chukwulobelu, noted that the facility was sealed after a detailed inspection carried out by the Anambra State Health Facility Accreditation and Monitoring Unit, during which several serious violations were observed, including the inability of the maternity to renew its operational license since 2018.

Dr. Chukwulobelu cited unhygienic environment, which is unsuitable for delivering any form of maternal care, as the reason why the government had to immediately seal the facility in order to save people’s life, describing the measure as part of broader efforts to sanitize the health sector and ensure that health facilities meet the minimum standards in the state.

He further explained that the enforcement fully aligns with the health reforms vision of the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, who he noted has made it clear that Ndi Anambra deserve only a safe professional and people-centred health system under the leadership of state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike.

# Federal Polytechnic Oko played host to a one day students sensitization programme on National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) organized by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for representatives of student leaders from NBTE accredited institutions in the South East Zone.

The programme drew student leaders from Federal Polytechnic , Oko; Federal Polytechnic, Ohodo Enugu State;
Akanu-Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Uwana Ebonyi State; John Boscho Institute of Technology; ⁠Federal College of Land Resources and Technology, Owerri, and Imo State Polytechnic, Omuma.

Others include: Our Lady of Lourdes Hospitals, Ihiala; Ezeala College of Nursing, Imo State; Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Abia State; Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu; Merit College of Nursing Sciences, Orlu, and ⁠Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Imo State.
