# The final day of a two-day capacity-building workshop for journalists on inclusive electoral reporting, was designed to equip media professionals with practical tools and strategies to promote the political participation of persons with disabilities (PWDs) through ethical and inclusive journalism.

Organized by TAF Africa under the Able to Vote campaign and supported by the European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EU-SDGN), the workshop brought together journalists from across the state to explore the role of the media in fostering inclusive elections ahead of the November 2025 governorship poll.

TAF Africa’s Program Manager, Lynn Agwuncha, charged journalists to embrace inclusive storytelling and also urged members of the disability community to reconsider local expressions that reinforce pity while calling for a change to the commonly used indigenous term “Ike di obi”, stating that such names should be replaced with terms that affirm dignity, strength, and identity.

# The Commissioner of Police, CP. Ikioye Orutugu led a Joint Security Team comprising the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other sister agencies to the scene where 10 (ten) people were murdered in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area.

CP Orutugu also confirmed the arrest of a male suspect, Sunday Mbanu who is currently assisting the Police in their investigation.

The Police boss however, reiterates that the incident is not a targeted attack on any indigene of any State, but a cowardly action of the common enemies of the State.

During the interaction with some stakeholders of the Community, including the Traditional Prime Minister, President General of the Ogboji Community and the son of the landlord where the meeting was held/the crime scene, some revelations were made as follows:

# Commuters and other users of the Asaba -Onitsha Expressway have cried to President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State to come to their immediate rescue by comprehensively rehabilitating the failed portions of the road which have subjected them to daily hellish experience.

Some of the drivers and commuters who spoke to us decried the level of suffering they have been going through on daily basis since the collapse of the road for almost two years now running, causing heavy and daily traffic gridlock that holds travellers for days and equally destroys their vehicles and goods.

Some portions of the road that failed include the Ezenei Junction by Chinedu Oko shopping plazas, Orumba LGA, SIO industry, Okwe and Old Federal Road Safety office.

# Unified Local Government Workers in Anambra State have endorsed Governor Chukwuma Soludo for second tenure as three Head Of Local Government Administration Officers were given an award for their outstanding performance in the service, including Mrs Rita Chike-Obuekwe of Awka South and Mr Martin Obimbaekwe of Njikoka Local Government Areas

The local government workers made the
endorsement at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, Awka, where they sang various solidarity songs in support of the Governor, during the 2025 Local Government Service Commission Week themed “Enhancing Effective Service Delivery In The Local Government System: The Solution Agenda.

The members who spoke through the State Coordinator, Solution Vanguard Comrade Obiora Offor and the State Woman Leader Solution Vanguard Mrs Rita Chike-Obuekwe said they made the decision because of what the Governor is doing in the state including prompt payment of salaries, pension and gratuities, free antenatal and delivery, free education, award of over seven hundred kilometres of roads across the state and commissioning of over five hundred kilometres, noting that they want him to come back and complete the good work he has started.

# Anambra State Government has arrested some illegal revenue collectors who molest commercial motorcyclists, wheelbarrow pushers, hawkers among others at Okada White House Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area.

Parading the suspects, the Commander in charge of illegal revenue collection in Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS), Comrade Nathan Obikwelu said that the suspects were arrested collecting money from motorcycle operators, hawkers and wheelbarrow pushers which Governor Chukwuma Soludo has banned in the State.

He maintained that the State government has been warning the perpetrators to stay away from the illegal activities but they kept on turning deaf ears.

Comrade Obikwelu made it clear that the suspects would be charged to court to serve as a deterrent to others, urging all illegal revenue collectors in the State to leave or face arrest and prosecution.

# The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, (NAPTIP), Anambra State Command, has secured the conviction of a 44-year old trafficker, Goodness Amaka Daniel.

The judgement was delivered by the State High Court, Awka Judicial Division.

Delivering judgment on the matter brought against the defendant, the High Court convicted the defendant for trading in human beings.

The court, presided over by Justice Peace Otti, sentenced her to 5-years imprisonment with option of fine in the sum of two million naira (₦2M).

It also mandated her to disgorge two million, six hundred naira only (₦2.6M) to the victim/prosecution witness.

Daniel was arraigned since 9th of July, 2024 for buying or selling of human beings contrary to Section 21 of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.

# In a bid to showcase the transformative projects initiated by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, members of the Awka Ambassadors Club embarked on a tour of various developments across the city.

Some of the places visited include the new Government House and Governor’s Lodge, some roads in Awka and the Solution Funcity.

The club, composed of influential community leaders and residents, expressed their unwavering support for Soludo’s second-term bid following their recent exploration of his administration’s significant projects.

While inviting skeptics to experience the changes firsthand, Sir Anthony Okafor, President of the Awka Ambassadors Club, highlighted the impressive scope of work completed under Soludo’s leadership and described it as refreshing, emphasizing that Awka is “in the right part” of Anambra State under the present administration, rallying support for him to continue the good work he is doing.

# An Anambra-based football club primed for appearance in the Nationwide League One, (NLO) side, Gamechangers Football club on Wednesday, unveiled former professional footballer, Emmanuel Awa, as the new coach of the side, for the 2025/2026 football season.

The unveiling of the coach took place at the Awka Township Stadium, Anambra State, during a ceremony to mark the one year anniversary of the existence of the Anambra-based grassroots football club.

Also at the event, the football club played a memorial match and officially retired the jersey number six, in honour of a member of the club, who lost his life in active service.

# The Spokesperson of Anambra Police Command, SP. Tochukwu Ikenga says ndi Anambra did not murder Ebonyi indigenes in the State

Ikenga through a press release, stated that the culprits are criminals hiding under the umbrella of the good people of Ebonyi Town Union in Ogboji, Orumba South local Government Area that committed the cowardly act. We already have one suspect in custody and shall definitely hunt others down.
