# The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command, Comdt Maku Olatunde has pledged the Corps’ commitment to partnering with the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in its responsibilities, including labour administration, implementation, and enforcement of all employment-related policies and regulations.
Commandant Maku stated this when he played host to a delegation of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment led by the Anambra State Controller, Mrs Bernadine Oji-Ogbuehi at the State Command Headquarters Awka.
During the visit, the State NSCDC boss promised to collaborate closely with the Federal Ministry of Labour in advancing labour – related initiatives. He emphasized that the partnership aligns with NSCDC ‘s determination to promote human capital development and prosperous workforce for the nation.
# The Hausa community in Anambra state has rejected the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and accepted the gubernatorial candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) Ozo Jeff Nweke.
The leader of the Hausa community in Anambra state Alhaji Husseni Haruna who made the public rejection of the incumbent governor and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) at an event in Awka, declared that APGA is cancelled in their hearts and that he would use his position as the Serikin Hausa to mobilize all the northerners in the 21 Local Government Areas of the state for Ozo Jeff Nweke.
Haruna emphasized that as far as the Hausa community in Anambra is concerned, APGA is dead and they are following AA, stressing that he would use the last drop of his blood to ensure that the northern extraction of the citizenry voted for Ozo Jeff Nweke, whom he said has been a benefactor to the northern community in the state.
# The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Anambra State Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to prioritize the welfare, safety, and timely payment of allowances for corps members who will serve as ad hoc staff during the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise scheduled for July 8–17, 2025.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting convened by INEC at the Collation Hall of INEC’s State Office in Awka, Ojisua stressed the need to treat corps members as family, citing past delays in payments as a critical concern.
During the meeting, which focused on preparations for the CVR and upcoming elections, Ojisua emphasized the indispensable role corps members play in ensuring credible elections.
# The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra state has cautioned residents to desist from crossing the expressway, but to make use of pedestrian bridges.
The Deputy Corps Commander, Christy Okonkwo gave the advice on Thursday during public enlightenment campaign on need for use of bridges at the popular UNIZIK junction.
Okonkwo said the sensitization was necessary to ensure reduction of casualties and safety of road users, warning that the Command would soon commence arrest of defaulters.

reacting on excuses by some pedestrians on the congestion of the bridge which are occupied by petty traders and beggars, Okonkwo assured clearance of the bridge to avoid obstruction and ensure free flow of traffic.
# Spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) South East Campaign, Mr. Dozie Ikedife Jnr. says the parties candidate, Prince Ukachukwu will tackle
insecurity if elected Governor of Anambra State.
Ikedife while addressing members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, led by Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, on Thursday July 3rd 2025, at the Godwin Ezeemo Press Center, Awka, assures ndi Anambra of strict safety of lives, property if Ukachukwu and his Deputy, Senator Uche Ekwunife, emerge in the November 8th governorship election.
Ikedife noted that one of the cardinal points of government is to protect the life and property of her citizens and frowned at the situation in Ihialla and other local government areas where series of blood shed have taken place, saying that many souls have been wasted assuring that he will fix things in order if elected.
He encouraged ndi Anambra to mourn those who lost their lives in the hands of hoodlums by supporting APC, promising human capital development, health care and all round provisions of basic amenities will be the main focus of Ukachukwu, while the state money will be accounted for.
# Anambra Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor says the State Government is actively investigating the recent clash between Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA) operatives and individuals in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, which led to property damage.
Mefor in a press release assure the people of Obosi and the general public that Government will take decisive action to prevent similar incidents in the future.
“To enhance professionalism and efficiency, SASA is undergoing reorganisation. This step aims to ensure the squad operates effectively and responsibly.
“The government urges calm and cooperation from residents as we work to resolve this matter’. The Commissioner stated.
# In preparation for the upcoming Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise scheduled to hold from July 8 to 17, 2025, corps members across Anambra State have commenced intensive training.
The training, which began on Friday, is being conducted simultaneously across all 21 local government areas of the state. Each INEC local government office is hosting sessions aimed at equipping corps members with the necessary skills and knowledge to support the voter registration process effectively.
According to officials, the training covers key aspects of the CVR exercise, including the use of biometric data capture devices, voter data management, and adherence to electoral guidelines and protocols.
The corps members, who are expected to play a vital role in the registration process, have shown enthusiasm and commitment to ensuring a smooth and credible exercise.
# The National Coordinator, Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder, APLSD, Mrs Aisha Edwards Maduagwu, has rewarded the pupils of Practicing School, Agulu, in Anaocha LGA, Anambra State.
Maduagwu commended the pupils for winning numerous medals and overall third position in the just concluded Anambra Solution School Sports Competition.
Mrs Maduagwu who is also the Director, Sickle Cell Orphanage and Underprivileged Home, Agulu, visited the pupils with special packages and tokens of appreciation for their teachers.
# Anambra State Government has called out Beauty salon, SPA operators, Cosmetology Centres and operators of Wellness Facilities in the state to stop handling health related matters or risk prosecution.
According to the release, “the Anambra State Ministry of Health, under the proactive and reform-driven leadership of
Governor Chukwuma Soludo, and the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike wish to bring to the attention of the general public, operators of beauty salons, spa facilities, and similar establishments, the urgent need to desist from engaging in unauthorized medical and dental services within the state.
“The announcement is in alignment with the enforcement provisions of the Anambra State Health Facilities Accreditation and Monitoring Agency (ASHEFAMA) Law of 2023 which mandates the regulation, accreditation, monitoring and quality assurance of all health required activities conducted within Anambra State’’.
