# Anambra commissioner for Health, Hon. Obidike has re-affirmed that his ministry will continue to give the supervisors for health in the Local Government areas, opportunity to be part of primary healthcare services delivery in the state.

The commissioner disclosed this when he received members of the Local Government Supervisors’ Forum who paid him a courtesy visit at Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.

He described the Supervisors as hard-working and highly indispensable in grass-roots healthcare services delivery, adding that the supervisors will be instrumental to achieving positive results in the primary healthcare services delivery in the Local Government areas of the state, and emphasized that he will continue to carry them along in the primary healthcare services delivery.

Hon. Obidike also assured the supervisors that his ministry will introduce various health projects that will enable them contribute to healthcare development in the state, and enjoined the supervisors to be proactive in their duties.

In his remark at the event with the theme; “Disrupt and evolve” the Speaker of Anambra Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, who thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for supporting programmes aimed at uplifting the youths, expressed readiness to formulate laws that will increase participation of younger ones in the technological development of the state.

Udeze noted that SMFEST is not about today; but the future, saying that what the present generation needs is “content and creativity” to survive and succeed in it, reason he challenged the youths on creative thinking in order to bring better changes, as the essence of living, according to him, is adapting to changes.

Contributing, the Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, while thanking Soludo for the love he has for the youths, urged young people to use the initiative and agitate for their future, adding that pulling youths out of all manner of crimes and criminalities through such programme will prove how progressive, livable and prosperous the state, society is.

# Anambra State University Teaching Hospital Amaku, Awka has clarified issues regarding the corpse of late Victory Ogharibe and her missing finger.

The Management of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka has clarified issues on the viral video of a woman whom the family claimed that her body p@rt was removed at the Mortuary.

In the Press release by the Public Relations Officer of the Hospital, Agbai Henrietta, they clarified that the deceased was an accident victim who was rejected by the previous Hospital they took her to after the accident.

# The Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr Felix Odimegwu has commended Olango Wildlife Park for establishing in Anambra State, saying it underscores their support to the state government’s efforts to promote environmental education, wildlife conservation, and eco-tourism.

Dr. Odimegwu was speaking at the grand opening of the park in Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area, an event that drew students and pupils from various secondary and primary schools across the state and top government functionaries.

Speaking shortly before commissioning the park, the Commissioner said the opening of the park is a major milestone in the state collective effort at environmental sustainability and hoped the zoo would provide a rare opportunity to renew the bond between humanity and wildlife which is expected to yield necessary results in conserving nature.

# The Chairman of Njikoka Local Government Area, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, has called on the 18 Ward Principal Executives of APGA in Njikoka to begin massive mobilization for voter registration ahead of the upcoming governorship election in Anambra State.

Speaking during a strategic party meeting held recently and presided over by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Njikoka Chairman, Pharm. Chinedu Anaekwe, the Mayor urged the ward leaders to return to their communities/wards and encourage eligible voters to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), as registration will commence very soon.

Hon. Ononiba reminded them that come November 8, 2025, Governor Chukwuma Soludo must be re-elected. He described Soludo as a “marketable candidate” who has shown visible transformation across the state. He emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement and party unity, assuring the team that APGA remains strong and ready to deliver victory.

# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has attributed the whole achievements of his administration in the state to the collective contributions and prayers of ndi Anambra.

Soludo who stated this through his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim at the Cathedral Church of St. Faith Awka, during the eucharistic service for the 2025 provincial council of laity convention, commended the church for supporting his government, and assured that his leadership will continue to make the people of the state proud.

The Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim who presided over the service, assured of total support of the Anglican faithful to the second term of the Governor whom he said has continued to partner the church since the inception of his administration.

# The Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly and Member Representing Awka South 2 Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye joined family, friends, and well-wishers at the Professorial Thanksgiving Mass of Prof. Dereck-Makachukwu Orji, a newly decorated Professor of Applied Linguistics.

The special thanksgiving, which took place during the 9AM Mass on Sunday, 6th July 2025 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Chaplaincy, UNIZIK Permanent Site, drew distinguished personalities from academic, religious, and political circles.

In his goodwill message, Rt. Hon. Sir Dr. Chukwuma Pius Okoye congratulated Prof. Orji on attaining the prestigious academic height of a professor, describing it as a testament to his years of dedication, resilience, and hard work in the academic field.

# The Police Officers attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awada station
acting on credible information, rescued a kidnapped driver.

Spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command, SP. Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the team also recovered a truck loaded with Custard powder worth N9,500,000 (Nine Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira) only and arrested three suspects involved in the criminal act.

“The suspects, all males: Udegenyi Ugochukwu aged 38 years, Anayochukwu Okonkwo aged 47 years and Good Odigili aged 47 years confessed that the goods were to be delivered to a Warehouse at Asaba, Delta State before they abducted the driver tied him in the bush and diverted the goods to Enugwu Ukwu.

# As the 2025 Anambra governorship election gathers momentum, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma’s message of empathy and purpose is already drawing attention, especially among young voters and grassroots supporters.

Sir. Chukwuma while addressing his supporters recently, pledged to lead with compassion, integrity, and people-centered vision.

The YPP candidate maintained that he was not stepping forward as a mere politician, but as a “brother, a son, and a servant” to the people of Anambra, and that his decision to contest was not born out of personal ambition but of deep concern for the suffering he has witnessed across communities.

He promised to prioritize good roads, quality education, reliable healthcare, improved security, and jobs for young people, Chukwuma said his mission is to “bring governance closer to the doorsteps of the people.”
