# As the November 8th 2025 Government draws near, Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor has underscored the importance of integrity in leadership.

While speaking to members of Soludo Sure Victory Movement, Anambra East Local Government Area, led by Hon. Andy Azu Onyeaka, who paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Awka, recently, Mefor urged ndị Anambra to beware of people without integrity seeking political offices.

The Commissioner observed that while integrity is scarce among people seeking elective positions, Governor Chukwuma Soludo remains a man of integrity who cannot be compared to his major opponents in the forthcoming governorship election.

Dr. Mefor, who maintained that Governor Soludo’s good works speak for themselves and that his impressive achievements will give him victory in the November polls, urged the group not to relent in their efforts to showcase the Governor’s achievements to ensure his resounding victory.

 

# The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command has embarked on a sensitization campaign across selected schools in Awka metropolis.

The NSCDC Anambra State Commandant, Comdt. Maku Olatunde stated that in alignment with the Commandant General’s vision for a secure and safe learning environment, the command has intensified visits to schools targeted at creating awareness, educating students and teachers on the Safe School Initiative, aimed at addressing rising security threats around schools nationwide.

Speaking on behalf of the State Commandant, Superintendent of Corps Afunanya Nneka, the Anambra NSCDC Safe School Coordinator, stated that the visit provided a valuable opportunity to sensitize students and teachers on their critical roles in gathering credible intelligence and reporting suspected movements around the school environment.

# The Chief Executive Officer and the Managing Director of Joeideas International, Prof. Ifemenanwa Joseph Okeke has stated why his firm is converting waste to wealth to support the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Prof. Okeke while briefing Journalists in Awka, said the company support will be in partnership with the President’s Renewal Hope Agenda through it Skills Acquisition programmes.

Okeke maintained that the job opportunity will cut across political, tribe, ethic and religion affiliations. He noted that the jobs will be created through recycling of ‘human and agro-allied waste products, tagged (Waste to Wealth Project).

The CEO further volunteered to support the government of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu with 20 million jobs with his term of experts for Nigerian youths from his waste to wealth project .

# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has approved funds for the warehouse construction of the Pharmaceutical Grade Kaolin at Umunuko, Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area, Anambra State.

The Pharmaceutical Grade Kaolin, which is a specific type of Kaolin used in pharmaceutical preparations, is part of the State Government’s investment drive to bring in pharmceutical companies to the state in form of partnerships for the overall development and industrialization of the state.

The Managing Director/CEO of Anambra State Solid Minerals Development Company Limited, Prof. Charles Ofoegbu, represented by his General Manager, Mr Ebuka Ujubuonu, during the handover of the project to the contractor, noted that the project is the second phase of the established Kaolin Processing Plant for industrial purposes, which is already in commercialisation stage.

Characterised by it’s high purity and controlled particle size, Mr Ujubuonu emphasised that the pharmaceutical Kaolin plays a crucial role in the formulation of medications, with its excipient in various pharmaceutical dosage forms including tablets, capsules, suspensions and creams.

# The zonal finals of 2025 ANSSI competition has kick-off at the three senatorial zones Anambra State.

The events being competed for, is team games which include volleyball and football for male and female in U-12, U-14 and U-18.

From Anambra North at Chuba Ikpazu stadium Onitsha, Metropolitan Sec. Sch. defeated C.k.C 4 – 1 in U-14 boys category, Community Sec.Sch. Iyiowa defeated Urban boys by 3 goals to 1. Modebe Memorial Sec. Sch.Onitsha had a walkover against Washington Grammar sch.

Onitsha, Community primary Okpoko beat Central School Odoakpu 4-2 in penalty shootout in U -12 boys category. Zik avenue primary school had a walkover against Omagba primary school Onitsha.

From Anambra South, Igwebuike Central School Umunze defeated Primary school Ekwulobia 6 -5 via penalty shootout, Harvesters International Sch.

# The Anambra State Police Command has initiated a Walk for Safety and led a Campaign Against Kidnapping and other Violent Crimes by leveraging on the community support under the platform of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC). The Walk aims to promote peace and combat violent crimes in the State.

During the Walk initiative at the Area Command in Nnewi, Nkwo Triangle, Nwafor Orizu Roundabout, First Bank Junction all in Nnewi, and Nnobi Junction the importance of collaboration in maintaining peace and security was highlighted. It also raised awareness about the impact of violent crimes, the need to foster a culture of peace and non-violence and strengthen the relationships between the Police and the community.

This initiative can help to build trust, encourage community engagement, thereby contribute to a safer environment in the State.

# Police Operatives attached to the Onitsha Main Market Police Division leveraging on the support of some traders, have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the murder of a 17-year old boy and recovered one automatic pump action gun.

Eyewitness account revealed that the suspects who were allegedly security operatives attempting to arrest a suspect started shooting indiscriminately and regretfully, a bullet hit the innocent boy.

Anambra Commissioner of Police, CP. Ikoiye Orutugu fwhile frowning at such avoidable and unprofessional behaviour of the security operatives, ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for a comprehensive investigation.

# Hundred-level students of the Department of Business Education, Faculty of Technology and Vocational Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, have been urged to study hard and avoid unnecessary delays in their academic journey. They were also implored to remain disciplined at all times.

The Head of Department, Dr. Jacinta Obidile, made the call during the maiden induction ceremony and oath-taking exercise for freshers, held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the Multipurpose Hall of the institution.

While congratulating the students, Dr. Obidile encouraged them to make the most of every opportunity to ensure a seamless academic experience. She reminded them of the importance of prompt fee payment, timely course registration, and effective time management.

# The Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye has commissioned the rehabilitated town union hall of Ezinator community in Awka South Local Government Area.

The commissioning ceremony attracted party faithful, community stakeholders, women and youths of the town.

Handing over the project to the community, the Deputy Speaker who also represents Awka South II Constituency, Hon. Okoye said the project was carried out under his “Community Choose Your Project Initiative” – an initiative targeted at repositioning and addressing the infrastructure decay in the constituency.
