# Two suspects who were allegedly involved in the kidnap and murder of a female Bank Manager after the collection of a ransom of (N14m) Fourteen Million Naira in Onitsha, have been arrested by police.
The Operatives while on diligent investigations trailed two of the suspects, Monday Egbe ‘M’ aged 32 years and Kenneth Nnoga ‘M’ aged 28 years to their criminal hideout in a neighbouring State.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, the unfortunate incident happened on the 13th of January, 2025 when the lifeless body of the victim was found along Nnobi Road with her eyes tied after the abductors had collected the ransom of N14m from the deceased family.
‘The suspects are currently undergoing interrogations for more insights into the modus Operandi of the criminal gang and possible arrest of other gang members”. Ikenga stated.
The Commissioner of Police, CP. Ikioye Orutugu has however, assured that the Command shall continue to live up to its Mandate of protection of lives and properties of ndi Anambra and residents and to ensure that all cases are followed to a logical conclusion and justice served.
# The Mayor of Dunukofia Local Government Area, Bar. Chijioke Ozumba has distributed fifty thousand naira each to one thousand eighty-three women petty traders
Addressing the gathering at Dunukofia Local government council’s secretariat, Ukpo, the local government boss explained that the money was designed to help the the beneficiaries expand their businesses, alliviate hardships faced by their families.
Ozumba commended Prince Arthur Eze and Chief Jim Nwbueze for supporting the project.
While flagging off the programme, wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo charged the beneficiaries to use the fund for the purpose it is meant and used the event to flagg off Dunukofia literary rebirth, her healthy living exercise and healthy living farm project in the local government.
# As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commences registration and validation of voters, the Association of Non Indigenes In Anambra State (ANIAS) have warned members not to fall prey to overtures of desperate politicians buying voter’s cards.
ANIAS also urged members that do not have permanent voter’s cards to endeavor to obtain permanent voter’s cards ahead of the November 8th gubernatorial election in the area.

# Nsugbe community, in Anambra East Local Government Area have appealed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to look into the sudden disappearance of one of their sons, Chief Onyedika Dibua.
Dibua, a member of Nsugbe Council of Elders, was reportedly missing for days without traces.
The youths made the appeal during a peaceful protest held in the community which began with a meeting at Okikizu Nsugbe
Speaking shortly after marching to the house of the Oldest man in Nsugbe community, Chief Chukwulozie Ogunkwo , the APGA chairman Nsugbe ward one, Mr Chukwunonso Onwuzuluike said that the missing person, Chief Dibua, the immediate past chief security of the community, was abducted in the midnight of Tuesday last week without an official arrest.
# Governor Chukwuma Soludo has disclosed that the entire former Government House premises, which spans over 30 hectares, is currently being transformed into Anambra’s own Silicon Valley, a hub for innovation, technology, and creativity.
According to Soludo, the move was long overdue, as Anambra had never had a proper Government House since its creation in 1991.
The Governor described how the state’s governance operations had, for over three decades, been domiciled in a makeshift facility, originally a yard for a road construction company workers in the 1980s, where they were sleeping and parking their equipments during the construction of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
# Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the November 8, 2025, Anambra election, attended a solemn thanksgiving mass at the Holy Trinity Catholic Cathedral in Onitsha.
Joined by his running mate, Senator Dr. Uche Ekwunife, APC Anambra State Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, and other prominent party leaders, the Mass was presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Maduka Okeke, the Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province.

# In a pivotal meeting held at the Government House, Awka, the state government is seeking further dialogue to tackle key security challenges facing the state.
A meeting convoked at the instance of the Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Community Security, Mr. Ken Emeakayi, addressed a gathering of mayors, presidents-general, and commanders of vigilante groups at the state, local government and community levels.
Apart from the focus on key challenges, the dialogue outlined collaborative strategies to enhance safety in Anambra communities.
Mr. Emeakayi made it clear that Agunechemba has replaced AVG, making AVG illegal, and added that Operation Udo Ga Achị is only but a code name.
He stressed that the meeting was called to address the issue of daily negative reports against Agunechemba and ụdọ ga achị, admonishing the stakeholders that whatever they do robs off on the governor.
# The Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu on Sunday took security advocacy to Achalla Community, in Awka North Local Government Area.
Orutugu also paid a courtesy visit to the Palace of the traditional ruler His Royal Majesty Igwe Ositadimma Sunny Nwokedi, Eze Oranyelu I of Achalla Kingdom.
The visit was aimed at promoting Security dialogue in addressing matters of concerns among the Stakeholders of the community and collaboration to combat the common enemy threatening the State.
In his remark, the CP observing the geographical nature Community sought greater cooperation from the indigenes to continue to deny the Criminal elements the space to wreak havoc in the State.
The Traditional Ruler, Eze Oranyelu, while appreciating the CP for the visit welcomed the security initiative and pledged to collaborate with security agencies to enhance safety and order in Achalla.
Eze Oranyelu assured that he would work closely with the Police to promote peace and stability in the area.
# The member representing Dunukofia Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Chuks Azotani, has commended Barrister Chijioke Ozumba for empowering patty traders with 50 thousand each.
Azotani while speaking at the event also
expressed gratitude to the Governor’s wife Mrs. Nonye Soludo for promoting healthy living in the state through her programme.
The lawmaker revealed that the people of Dunukofia will vote massively for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
during the November 8th Anambra governorship election.
