# The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) past executives of Awka South One constituency in Awka have held an inaugural meeting in support of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s second term bid.

Speaking during the meeting, the convener, Engineer Obiorah Okafor, who is an oil and gas magnate based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, noted that he convened the gathering for him to hear from the past executives who have worked and continued to work for the party with a view to addressing their grievances if any.

Okafor who disclosed that Governor Soludo has turned around the economic fortunes of the State in both human and infrastructural developments, without borrowing a Kobo, urged the participants to work towards re-electing the Governor during the November 8 Anambra governorship election.

# Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) during its 10th meeting, names the new government house built by Governor Chukwuma Soludo as “Light House Awka”

According to a press release by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, after deliberating over a suitable moniker, ANSEC christened and proclaimed the new Anambra Government House Mini City “Light House Awka,” in keeping with Anambra State’s slogan, “Light of the Nation.”

Other decisions taken includes, Anambra Rebirth: ANSEC explored how to completely restore Anambra society, reshape its moral and social structures, and establish the project as a lasting legacy of the Soludo administration.

The Extraordinary International Children’s Day Celebration on May Day: ANSEC relived the spectacular Special International Children’s Day (May 27) 2025 celebration at Solution Fun City and gave the children credit for their good conduct despite their large numbers.

Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission(ASERC) to be established: To perform its functions as contained in the recently assented Anambra State Electricity Law, ANSEC decided to immediately establish the Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission and launched a recruitment drive for subject-matter experts to join the new commission.

Facilities Used As Holding Places For Child Beggars To Be Confiscated And Sealed In Compliance With Extant Law: The Council decided that, in accordance with the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025, premises used as holding places for Child Beggars will be henceforth sealed and confiscated going forward.

# Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu in a diligent follow-up of investigation over an attack on Police and Military Operatives that recorded the burning of an Army Operational vehicle in Enugwu-Agu Village Oba Ofemili, Awka North LGA, arrested two suspects positively identified in the disturbing incident.

The two suspects: Uche Egwu ‘M’ 35 years, and Jindo Onyeka ‘M’ 32 years respectively, confessed their involvement and provided useful information on other persons involved in the act.

The disturbing incident occurred on 13th April 2025 where some armed individuals unprovokedly attacked the Security Operatives and some Stakeholders of the community.

Anambra Commissioner of Police, CP. Ikioye Orutugu while commending the act of gallantry and professionalism of the Security Operatives in managing the situation as no loss of life was recorded, described the situation as a grave and deliberate act to test the will of the security agencies and as an attack on the soul of a Nation.

The CP charged the Operatives to expand the scope of their investigation for the possible arrest of other fleeing suspects. He further emphasised the need for collective action to protect those who safeguard the nation.

# The APC Anambra Media Coordinator, Maazi Chidi Orjika, has commended the team for their excellent work and praised their resilience despite relentless attacks from the weakening opposition.

Orjika called for the harmonization of all media teams to forge a united front for the benefit of the party and the aspirations of the gubernatorial candidate, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, and his running mate, Senator Dr. Uche Ekwunife.

– Contract Sum: ₦110,114,510.60
– Duration: 6 weeks from mobilization

Procurement and Supply of Official Uniforms and Operational Gears to Ocha Brigade, Anambra State
– Supplier: Analiro Enterprises Ltd
– Contract Sum: ₦155,653,550.00

# A total of One thousand, three hundred and eight (1,308) members from the 2024 Batch B Stream One officially concluded their service year on Tuesday in a low-key Passing Out ceremony across Anambra State.

Anambra State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Pauline Ojisua in her goodwill message, charged the Corps members to leverage the training received through the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program.

Representing the Chairman of Awka South LGA, the Deputy Chairman, Hon. Paul Ifeme, echoed the call for national dedication. He advised the Corps members to remain patriotic citizens, shun criminal activities and vices, and consistently uphold the values of good ambassadorship.

Reinforcing the message of self-sufficiency, Hon. Kingsley Ikebudu, the Special Assistant to the Awka South LGA Chairman, also encouraged the Corps members to focus on creating jobs using their acquired skills rather than solely seeking traditional white-collar employment..

# In a strategic bid to strengthen the APC Anambra media campaign machinery and promote issue-based politics, Chief Basil Ejidike, the capable APC Anambra State Chairman, held an interactive session with the APC media team championing the Ikukuoma project and promoting the APC agenda in the media and beyond.

The meeting, which took place at the APC Secretariat in Awka, aimed to emphasize the importance of aligning with the party’s ideology and advancing the state’s quest for a better alternative for Ndi Anambra, as championed by the party’s candidate, Prince Dr. Nicholas Ukachukwu.

The State Chairman commended the media personnel for their steadfastness, dedication, passion, and patriotism, reassuring them of the party leadership’s unwavering support. He promised that their welfare would always be well catered for.

Chief Ejidike urged the team to remain focused and issue-based as the campaign begins in earnest. He emphasized the need to project the lofty ideals of the APC, the party’s achievements, and the manifesto of its candidate, while calling for synergy among all the media groups in the party.

# The Chairman of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Hon. Chimezie Obi, commended stakeholders of Eziora Central School, the community philanthropist for their commitment to educational development.

Speaking at the ceremony of the foundation laying ceremony for the perimeter fence at Eziora Central School, Ozubulu, in Ekwusigo LGA, the first school in Ozubulu, the Mayor noted that the fencing project is essential in protecting the lives and property of both students and teachers.

Hon. Obi emphasized the importance of school infrastructure as a key component in delivering quality education and pledged continued support to similar projects across the local government.

Obi charged the management of mission public schools, particularly priests and reverend fathers overseeing such institutions, to prioritise the schools and raise their standards to meet current educational demands.

# Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Commissioners for Works and Infrastructure, Housing, Managing Director, Awka Capital Territory Development Agency (ACTDA) and Chairman Anambra State Physical Planning Board to initiate a comprehensive check and monitoring of dampproofing in structures across the state.

Hon. Emma Nwafor, aims to checkmate construction of structure in order to avoid growth of Mycotoxins in buildings.

Engr. Nwafor who is the Chairman House Committee on Works and Infrastructure, said the move is aimed at curbing Moisture, Dampness, and Capillary (MDC) issues.

According to Engr. Nwafor, mycotoxins are products of fungi generated from MDC menace in buildings, and have contributed to about 50% of structural failures in Nigeria, including Anambra State, and also causes up to 25% of diseases including lung cancer, impacting humans, livestock, and agricultural produce.

Anambra Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, who presided plenary, in his remarks, commended the sponsor of the motion for raising an issue that affects the state and reaffirmed the House’s commitment to legislation that enhances public safety and infrastructure durability. He urged the House Committee on Housing to make sure that the resolution is enforced.
