* Anambra State government has partnered with supporters of good governance to hold road work across the 21 local government areas in the state.
The exercise, which took off from Dr Alex Ekwueme square junction and ended at Eke Awka, had in attendance members of the state ministry of women and social welfare and members of Supporters of Good Governance.
Speaking to the public during the walk for life, the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo called on parents and the society at large to shun all forms of ritual practices prevalent in the state such as oke ite, fake practice of Eze nwanyi and Dibias noting that the Soludo led administration does not tolerate rascality of any form.
The walk for life ended with the women unanimously praying against kidnap, killings, and ritual activities in the state and encouraged everyone to speak out when they saw evil.
* The Anambra State Police Command and other security agencies are intensifying night patrol efforts for improved safety across the State.
According to a press statement signed by
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, the night patrol is expected to deter criminal activities, reassure the public, and demonstrate the Police Command’s commitment to creating a safer environment for Ndi Anambra and other residents.
‘The Command is highly committed to sustaining safety and security in Anambra’. Ikenga stated.
* The Vicar, St Judes Church, Isiagu, Awka South Council Area, Venerable Silas Ike has cautioned christians to be weary of Satan’s deceit and avoid them.
Venerable Ike who stated this during a sermon said temptations are abound but only those who are in Christ Jesus will surmount which he said requires faith, believe and fear of God.
Also speaking, The Parish Priest, St Peter’s Parish, Nkwelle Awka, Rev. Fr Donatus Esiegbue frowned at the urgle ways some christians lived their lives, describing it as lost and sinful, urging them to clamour for a decent lifestyle, which will earn them eternity.
Esiegbue said it will be of great regret and pain, if after suffering here on earth, they will end up where they will languish forever even as he reminded the parishioners to embrace arms giving, charity and prayerful life.
* The Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Amaka Obi has called on women to embrace the agricultural practice of cultivating healthy living garden at their different homes to cushion the effect of economic hardship.
The Mayor made the call after
harvesting the first set of vegetables she cultivated herself barely one month ago at
healthy living garden, Ojoto.
Hon. Obi commended Anambra First Lady, Dr. Mrs Nonye Soludo for the initiative and urged women in the council area to emulate her example by having family garden. She expressed her gratitude for the rapid germination of the vegetables, noting that Mrs Soludo has laid example for other women in the state to emulate.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has warned owners of hotels in the state against delaying the implementation of the provisions of Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025 in their different establishments.
Soludo gave the warning during a one day compulsory interactive summit with all hotel owners and owners of other hospitality outfits in the state at the Government House in Awka.
The Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025 section 14, subsection 3 and 4 requires owners of hotels and related outfits to demand and obtain a means of identification of their guests and submit same to the appropriate authority as may be required; install surveillance cameras that will record the movement of guests and submit the data recorded to the appropriate authority.
The Law in Section 14, subsections five and six, considers non-compliance to these provisions as criminal offences and stipulates a six months jail term, an option of fine of one million or both among others.
* The Chairman of Njikoka Local Government Area, Hon. Chinedu Ononiba has visited the Health Centre at Abagana for an inspection to assess the current state of the facilities.
Ononiba who was accompanied by Councillors, was guided through the inspection by Mrs. Iweobi Phoebe, the Midwife Nurse and head of the Health Centre.
Mrs. Phoebe provided a thorough tour of the centre, highlighting areas of strength and areas in need of improvement.
The Mayor while speaking said the purpose of the visit was to evaluate the facility’s condition and ensure that it meets the health needs of the community.
The Njikoka LGA boss expressed his commitment to ensuring the health centre is adequately supported for the well-being of ndi Abagana and surrounding areas.
* Family, friends, schoolmates, and sympathizers gathered at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Umueze Uga Community,
Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State to bid farewell to three young siblings, Chiamaka, Chimziterem and Chimdirim whose lives were tragically cut short in an incident that sent shockwaves across Anambra state.
Recall that the siblings, two girls and a boy, aged between five and nine years were found lifeless inside a freezer in their home earlier this year.
The parents of the dead children Mr. and Mrs. Udochukwu Ejezie described the loss of their children as an unimaginable nightmare and the greatest shock of their lives.
They expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received from the state and government, Nigerian police and the community at large.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has drawn the line against indiscriminate use of loudspeakers for preaching in public spaces, declaring that markets are meant for business, not unsolicited religious evangelism.
The Governor, in a viral video circulating online, was seen engaging a roadside preacher in a market, believed to be Ochanja Market in Onitsha, where he firmly insisted that evangelism should not be forced upon traders and customers going about their daily activities in the marketplace.
Addressing traders at the market while also cautioning the preacher, the governor warned that anybody who wants to engage in such loud preaching should go and build or rent a space where those who are interested in the message would go and listen to it.
He re-emphasized that markets are for business, and not for turning unwilling listeners into a congregation or forcefully blaring their eardrums with loud sounds coming from the loudspeaker.
* The Mayor of Orumba South Local Government Area, Hon. Shedrack Azubuike has flagged off the construction of the 220 meters erosion control at Okukoro- Ajaekpe, along Orie Nwaohdu road in Ndikpa Ugwunano village, Umunze which has been threatening the lives and property of the residents of the area, causing havoc in the area.
Speaking during the flag off exercise, Azubuike stated that he is following the footprint of Governor Soludo in both development and overall good governance, adding that he has given the contractor handling the project thirty days to complete the project, which he said, must be of high quality to match the standard of projects Governor Soludo is doing in the State.
Residents of the area including Chiefs Simeon Onunkwo, Mike Okeke ,Ephraim Uzoigwe as well as the Councilor representing Umunze award one, Mr Obinna Okoli among others, commended the Honourable Azubuike for saving the lives and property of the residents of the area by awarding the contract for the construction of the erosion site, which they said, has existed for decades and thanked him for coming to their rescue.
The contracting firm handling the project-GAAC Integrated Services, assured that they will deliver accordingly and pleaded with the residents to cooperate with them in order to achieve the Council Mayor’s aim of awarding the construction of the erosion site.
* Anambra South Senatorial Aspirant, Chief Akai Egwuonwu’s has taken his campaign to Ihiala Local Government Area as consultative engagement continues.
The meeting, which was held at the Ihiala Local Government Secretariat, gathered massive support.
Addressing party faithfuls, Chief Egwuonwu, solicited for their support, emphasizing the need for political partnership and collaboration to foster sustainable development and equity in distribution of resources.
Egwuonwu, an entrepreneur and philanthropist also reeled out his mission and vision of going to the Senate and the impact he would make within his stay at the National Assembly if given the opportunity.
