* The immediate past Commissioner for Information, Sir. Paul Nwosu has paid a courtesy visit to his successor, Dr. Law Mefor, at his office in the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
In his remarks, Dr Nwosu praised Mefor for the physical changes he brought to the office, including his passion for the job, among other improvements in information dissemination so far. He said the visit was simply to touch base to know how things are going, even as he expressed willingness and availability to help the ministry and the state in any way.
Dr. Mefor, while expressing happiness over the visit, hailed Nwosu’s immense contributions to the state’s development in various capacities, particularly as former Commissioner for Information.
* The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Anambra State Command working alongside other security agencies, has ramped up efforts to eliminate any sit-at-home threats in the state on Mondays.
In a statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, SC. Edwin Okadigbo, the combined security forces are undertaking the large-scale patrols round the state to demonstrate their strength and build confidence across Awka, Ekwulobia, Onitsha, and Nnewi axis to bolster the confidence of lawful citizens to go about their businesses without fear of molestation.
SC. Okadigbo reiterated that the operation reflects the commitment of security agencies to dismantle criminal networks that seek to instill fear and disrupt economic and social activities in the state.
He also mentioned that the increased security presence is intended to prevent any criminal activity or unwanted incidents from occurring around critical national, state, and local government assets and infrastructure.
* The leading All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial hopeful for Anambra 2025 and Founder of United Nigeria Airlines, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo has dedicated his governorship ambition to God Almighty during a special Mass at Blessed Iwene Tansi Parish, Umudioka, Dunukofia LGA.
The mass, presided over by fiery Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma (Ebubemuonso), drew a large congregation, including members of the Dikeora Provisional Primary Election Campaign Council, the Dikeora Political Family, friends, and well-wishers.
During his homily, Fr. Obimma commended Prof. Okonkwo’s inspiring journey from humble beginnings to remarkable success, describing him as a role model for young people.

Primus Odili says the launch of Operation Udo Ga Achi has brought security improvement in the State.
Odili believes that Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has brought the weight of governance to bear on criminal elements in the state, forcing a good number to either leave the state or stay back and face the macabre dance from his fiery Agunechemba.
According to Odili, evidently, crime and criminality has reduced to their barest minimum. People now move about freely.
* The Head of Service of Anambra State, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, has urged civil servants to key into the anti-corruption campaign championed by the Rule of Law and Anti-corruption (RoLAC) Program 2, to heal the state civil service of the destructive effects of corruption.
Igwegbe made the call during the inauguration of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Committee and Anti-corruption committees (ACCs) of various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, under the Component of the RoLAC programme.
The event, organized by the RoLAC 2 program, funded by the European Union and implemented by International IDEA, attracted members of the M&E committee (state and non-state actors) as well as civil servants, who are members of the anti-corruption committees across the MDAs.
Represented by Mr Bayo Ojeyinka, the Permanent Secretary in the office, the Head of Service appealed to public servants to allow the service to heal from the devastating impacts of corruption.
* Anambra Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Felix Odimegwu says passengers who dispose refuse on the roads from moving vehicles will be arrested.
The Commissioner while speaking in Awka, emphasized on the need for residents to be mindful of their environmental practices.
Dr. Odimegwu, who condemned the indiscriminate disposal of wastes, stressed the need for the state residents to see maintenance of a clean and healthy environment as a shared responsibility, rather than a duty of the government alone.
He urged park owners and drivers to educate their passengers on the importance of complying with the government’s environmental regulations, warning that the state government will not only arrest offenders but also will hold drivers accountable and confiscate any vehicle involved in such violations.
* The Mayor of Idemili South local government area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has commended Anambra State First Lady, Dr. Mrs Nonye Soludo for her dodged commitment to empowering women, especially girl-child.
Obi made this statement during Anambra Women Summit at Awka, stating that Dr. Mrs Soludo is making life comfortable for the women and their families.
The Mayor stated that Mama Anambra is transforming women and the girl-child, most especially the less-privileged to ensure that they were adequately empowered and protected for efficiency, and add value to the next generation.
While stating that Dr. Mrs Soludo is committed to breaking social barriers against rural women, thereby giving a girl-child the sense of belonging, she further appreciated Anambra State APGA women leader, Hon. Mrs Esther Onyekesi for organizing such a wonderful summit.
* The Faculty of Medicine, College of Health Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nnewi Campus is set to hold the 54th Induction Ceremony of her medical graduates.
The upcoming induction ceremony will hold on Saturday, 15th March, 2025 at the MOP Park, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Permanent Site, Nnewi, Anambra State beginning from 10am.
The event will be chaired by UNIZIK Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu.

* Commissioner for Information Anambra State, Dr. Law Mefor has clarified the misconstrued reports surrounding Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s recent encounter with an itinerant preacher at Onitsha Market.
Dr. Mefor through a press release noted that Governor Soludo’s remarks were misinterpreted as a ban on evangelism, whereas his focus was on noise pollution, which has been banned by an extant law on public health.
“To clarify, Governor Soludo drew attention to the Public Health Law 2006, which prohibits noise pollution and preaching in inappropriate places like markets using loudspeakers. The governor advised preachers to conduct their activities in churches or designated areas where people can gather and listen to the word without disrupting others’ activities.
“The issue at hand is noise pollution, not evangelism. “Noise pollution” is punishable under Sections 8 (1,4b) and 9 (1,2) of the Public Health Laws of Anambra State, 2006.
* The Anambra State government has organized a crucial one-day interactive summit, where it also called on hotel owners and other stakeholders to complement the ongoing war against crimes by fully implementing the provisions of the Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025.
Themed “Addressing Security Issues in Hotels and the Hospitality Industry” and organized by the State Ministry of Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism in collaboration with the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, the Ministry of Homeland Affairs, and the State Security Network, the summit, which held over the weekend in Awka, brought together top government functionaries, hoteliers and key figures in the state’s tourism and hospitality industry, as well as representatives from various security agencies.
Addressing the participants, the State Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, represented by his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, highlighted the importance of the new law, stressing that its full implementation was non-negotiable.
Recounting the efforts made and successes so far recorded by the government in the war against insecurity, he reminded hoteliers that their establishments play a critical role in the
state’s security architecture and that any delay in complying with the law could have dire consequences.
