* The Nnewi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NCCIMA) has expressed profound appreciation to the Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for the remarkable infrastructural development his administration has brought to Nnewi and its environs.
In a letter signed by the President of NCCIMA, Chief (Sir) Ezukwo Moses, and the Executive Secretary, Mr. Obiora Ibekwe, the business community commended the timely completion of the Bank Road in Nnewi, describing it as a “crucial development that has significantly eased transportation and facilitated smoother business operations in the area.”
The Chamber acknowledged that the successful delivery of the project reflects “the administration’s commitment to the growth and development of Nnewi as well as the entire Anambra State.”
Furthermore, NCCIMA applauded the ongoing construction of the Nnewi-Okija Road and Igwe Orizu Road, describing them as projects that “hold immense promise for the future of our town and the state at large.”
* A bill for a law to establish the Anambra State Electricity Market and Anambra State Electricity regulatory Commission has been red for the third time and passed into law.
The bill was passed on Thursday after the consideration of the report of the
House Committee on Power and Water Resources, chaired by the member representing Ihiala two Constituency,
Hon. Golden Ilo.
Hon. Ilo in his submission stated that the law was meant to regulate electricity generation, transmission, system operation, distribution and supply to promote access to electricity and for connected purposes.
Rt. Hon. Udeze while speaking after the passage of the bill, appreciated the lawmakers, Clark and staff of the 8th Assembly for the effort and energy in making sure that law was passed at plenary on Thursday.
The Speaker applauded the Chairman House Committee on Power and water Resources and its members for their dedication and commitment.
* Traditional doctors in Anambra state have agreed to partner government to achieve each objectives especially in the area of control for its members.
The native doctors made the pledge during an interaction with the Anambra State House of Assembly in Awka.
According to the Chairman of the group, Chief Innocent Okwundu the new Anambra law that created Agunechemba security outfit is no doubt a welcome development that is aimed at ensuring safety of all genuine practitioners and residents of the state.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze after listening and highlighting the benefits of the new Anambra Security Law, said the present administration and the law makers meant well for the people.
Rt. Hon. Udeze who was represented by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme during the interaction, said already there was a bill in the making to address most of the grey areas mentioned by the association.
* The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Unizik, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu, has commissioned three key projects initiated and completed by the outgoing Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Alvan Okwudiri Ikokwu-Nwamara.
Speaking at the commissioning, Prof. Ikechebelu expressed his delight at the projects and urged other Faculty Deans to make significant contributions within their Faculties.
He also encouraged the incoming Dean to build on these achievements and take the Faculty’s development to greater heights.
* The Njikoka APGA Youth Leaders, led by Comrade Jekwu Dike recently paid a visit to Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, the Mayor of Njikoka Local Government, at the local government headquarters in Abagana.
The purpose of the visit was to express their gratitude for the continuous support the Mayor has shown towards the youth of Ndi Njikoka since he assumed office.
The youth leaders acknowledged the impactful work of Barr. Ononiba has done, particularly in empowering and uplifting the youth of Njikoka through initiatives such as the registration of free JAMB forms and tutorials, as well as the implementation of a health insurance scheme.
They commended his dedication to ensuring the inclusion of young people in his governance and his commitment to creating opportunities for their growth. Ononiba is a strong APGA party faithful, having served as an elected Councillor and a stakeholder.
In his responses, Mayor Ononiba expressed his appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed his commitment to the progress of the youth in Njikoka, assuring them of his ongoing support.
* Naval Outpost Onitsha has distributed free educational materials to the pupils of Central Primary School, Ochuche, in Ogbaru Council Area of Anambra State.
The initiative is part of non-kinetic approach of Operation Delta Sanity II, aimed at fostering strong civil-military relationship and improving security operations in the South-East Region.
The distributed materials included whiteboards, exercise books, mass sets, markers, pens, pencils, crayons, rulers, and other essential teaching and learning aids.
While handing over the items, the Commanding Officer, Naval Outpost Onitsha, Navy Captain Musa Jarma, noted that security of lives and property has significantly improved in the area, with peace and stability restored like never before.
The Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Veronica Daike, and President General Ochuche Community, Mr. Eric Obaze, thanked the Nigerian Navy for coming to their aid at the time the school was in great need of academic materials.
* The operatives of Agụnechemba security outfit, popularly known as Operation Udo Ga-Achị, have arrested no fewer than seven persons for different crimes bordering on fraud and other related crimes in Anambra State.
The operatives made the arrest at Nando, Anambra East Local Government Area of the state where the suspects were said to be camped at a centre, where they were being taught how to indulge in internet fraud among other related crimes that fuel get-rich-quick syndrome.
Speaking in an interview, the video of which has gone viral on social media, one of the suspects and student of the centre, 16-year-old Chiemerie from Imo State, who confessed to have been at the camp for one month, also confessed that the owner of the camp, identified as Ezechukwu also prepares different kinds of luck charms for the youth at the different prices.
* Anambra State House of Assembly
Committee Chairman on Public Petitions, Hon. Obi Nweke at plenary on Thursday present three petitions seeking the removal of the traditional ruler of Nimo Community, HRM Maxi Ike Oliobi.
The first petition was written by Nimo Town Development Union (NTDU), requesting for the withdrawal of the certificate of recognition over numerous alleged atrocities against the traditional ruler.
Hon. Nweke, the member representing Anambra East Constituency, also presented a petition written by the President General (PG) of Nimo Community, Engr. Dan Zeelunjo Anikpe, on the ‘Peace Committee Report’ which indicted Igwe Oliobi (Owelle Nimo).
The Secretary General and his assistants also forwarded their petition to the 8th Assembly, requesting for the detronment of the traditional ruler of Nimo,
Anambra Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, referred the petitions to the House Committee on Petitions.
Rt. Hon. Udeze urged the Committee to treat the matter urgently and report back to the House in two weeks time.
* The Mayor of Idemili North Local Government Area, Hon. Stanley Nkwoka has commissioned the first ultra modern park built by Barr. Asha Nnabuife a former chairman of the local government council and handed over to the LGA under the Public Private Community Partnership PPCP initiative of Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State.
Speaking during the commissioning of the park which was named ‘Eke Nkpor Uno Central Motor Park’, Nkwoka who also represented Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the event thanked the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Barr Asha Nnabuife for embracing the PPCP initiative
According to Nkwoka, this is PPCP an initiative of the present administration.
This is a positive change happening in Nkpor. This is the first of this kind of park in Anambra State with all these modern facilities.
* FRSC Anambra Command, has embarked on a special operation to combat the proliferation of fake and unregistered number plates in the state.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Joyce Alexander, who disclosed this in Awka on Thursday, expressed concern about the presence of non-registered, improperly registered, and un-uploaded number plates, citing them as potential threats to security in society.
Alexander lamented the fact that many properly registered number plates were not uploaded to the FRSC database, resulting in revenue loss and increased security risks for individuals. She stressed the importance of vehicle registration for road eligibility, effective data collection, policy-making, and facilitating vehicle transactions in the event of security incidents.
The Sector Commander said the national headquarters had instructed a crackdown on fake number plates nationwide, with operations already underway in Anambra. She urged all motorists to ensure their registered numbers were properly uploaded and criticized the non-use of registration plates among trucks and articulated vehicles.
