* A bill for a law to establish the Anambra
Indigenes Traditional Medicine Practices regulatory agency and for other related matters has been red for the third time and passed into law.

The bill was passed after the consideration of the report on the joint House Committee on Judiciary and Justice, and the Committee on Health.

Hon. Okafor while speaking at the Committee of the Whole, stated that after
deliberation and considerations some amendments were proposed.

Anambra Assembly Speaker Rt Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze said the law will take effect from the 27th of March 2025.

* Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Lands, Survey, and Town Planning led by the the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Jude Akpua has visited the Ministry of Lands, Survey, and Town Planning.

Hon. Akpua who is the Member representing Njikoka two Constituency, while speaking said the purpose of the visit was to assess the activities and progress of the ministry in line with its responsibilities in urban development and land management.

Commissioner for Lands, Survey, and Town Planning, Prof. Affomze Amucheazi,
in his speech, briefed the lawmakers on the ministry’s current projects, challenges, and achievements. He emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the administration of land resources in Anambra State, particularly in terms of urban planning and regulation.

The Committee commended the Commissioner for the monumental structure he is setting in the ministry of lands. They provided valuable insight into the ministry’s operations and provided constructive recommendations aimed at improving land management practices in the state.

* As part of it’s efforts towards instilling good morals in young people and drastically reducing social vices in the society, Odimma Orumba North LGA, has embarked on its school moral campaign, tagged, “Catching Them Young And Redirect Them On The Way To Follow”, in primary schools across Orumba North Council Area.

Speaking shortly after their visit to Central School Oko, Union School Awgbu, Community Primary School Omogho, and Primary School Ufuma, the Founder of Odimma Orumba North, Mrs Ifeoma Ekwueme explained that the outing was part of the organization’s determination to make Orumba North better through character moulding, advising young people to say no to social vices and get rich quick syndrome, in order to actualize their dreams in life.

On their parts, the Chairman Odimma Orumba North who is also the Special Adviser and Chief of Staff to Orumba North Mayor Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajoagu, and his Vice, Chief Festus Arokwe, while calling on the school children to be focused in their academics, revealed that school children in the area stand a chance of winning scholarships from the group, as plans are on to provide them with scholarship opportunities.

Head Teachers of the schools visited, including that of Primary School Ufuma, Mrs Constance Madichie, Mrs Benita Nnamezie of Community Primary School Omogho, and their Central School Oko counterpart, Miss Faith Ezeilo thanked the group for the kind gesture, and the learning materials provided to the pupil and prayed God to reward them.

* Participants at a workshop on tax for service have commended the decision by the state government to digitize revenue collection in the state.

According to them, the measure will help greatly in reducing the rate at which funds meant for government are being diverted into private pockets.

The participants, who are drawn from 21 major markets, relevant government ministries, departments and agencies, (MDAs), the civil society, disability community and the media, agreed to the progressive trends in revenue generation in the state but argued that the state has the potential to perform better than it is currently doing if the system if fully digitized to allow zero cash collection.

The workshop was organized by Social and Integral Development Centre, (SIDEC), host of Tax Justice and Governance Platform, (TJ&GP), in collaboration with the Civil Society legislative Advocacy Centre, (CISLAC) with funding support from Oxfam Nigeria.

* A delegation from Uruokokwe Village, Nimo has paid a courtesy visit to Barr. Chinedu Dominic Ononiba, the Mayor of Njikoka Local Government Council.

During the visit, the Uruokokwe village leadership presented their requests and outlined the needs of the community to the Mayor. Mayor Ononiba assured the delegation that their concerns would be duly noted and that he would take the necessary steps to address them.

They expressed appreciation for the Mayor’s time and his continued support of the development of the community.

* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has described the performance of Governor Chukwuma Soludo as super excellent.

Udeze while speaking In a press conference stated that Soludo’s first speech after he was sworn in as the governor, signified his readiness to work for ndi Anambra.

Rt. Hon. Udeze while assessing Soludo’s performance, maintained that the tempo of the Governor is still high, because he has been working day and night, trying to change the narrative.

* The Anambra State Commissioner for Lands, Prof. Offornze Amucheazi has re-stated the mandate and commitment of the Ministry in making Anambra State Geographic Information System (ANAMGIS), the most efficient and effective among all States in Nigeria on Geographic Information System.

The Commissioner made this known when he received members of the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Lands, Survey and Town Planning in his office.

Prof. Amucheazi while stating that ANAMGIS initiative was one of the highlights of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s manifesto, achieved within a space of two years, was aimed at digitizing and fast-tracking land administration processes in Anambra State.

Speaking on the ongoing recertification and revalidation exercise in the State, he noted that the new Certificate of Occupancy comes with a QR code and special security features.

The Commissioner who attributed the successes recorded in the Ministry to Governor Soludo’s intentional commitment for an efficient and effective land administration system in the State, thanked members of the committee for their unwavering support so far and pleaded for more support to enable the Ministry continue to deliver on its mandate. The Commissioner later took the committee members on a facility tour of the Ministry.

* The ten kilometers Urum -Amanuke-Achalla road being constructed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo is ninety eight percent completed.

From Urum-Amanuke end of the road, it was observed that the road has been asphalted from the Urum-Amanuke junction to Awka North Secretariat, Achalla, where asphalting was on going.

The road has two big culverts, one immediately after the Urum-Amanuke junction and the second one over the Eziukwuegbu River, Udezu village, Achalla, while stone base was laid under the four inches asphalt, compacted to three inches on the road.

* Mrs. Nonye Soludo has received the high-flying Anambra Female Volleyball Team.

Speaking during the reception, Mrs. Soludo stated that she is proud of the exploits of the amazing young talents.

It will be recalled that Anambra Queens made history for being the first team from the entire southern Nigeria to play in the elite National Volleyball Premier League.

* The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, Irene Chioma Awuzie, has called on the new students of the institution to face their studies and avoid bad behaviours and companies.

The Rector, during the 41st matriculation ceremony of the polytechnic held at the institution’s convocation arena on Friday, March 14, informed the young audience that the school award certificates, not based on academic performance alone, but also on character; adding that intelligence alone is not enough to make one the best graduate;

rather, true excellence is attained when intelligence is combined with strength of character.

She added, “The most intelligent student may not necessarily be the most successful in life. To stand out and excel beyond this institution, you must uphold integrity, discipline, and good moral conduct.
