* The delegate Congress of the APC ahead of the November 2025 Governorship Election in Anambra State, has been sabotaged by the Anambra State Congress Committee, led by Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, former governor of Bauchi State.

The Committee made up of other party members and stakeholders, including Mohammed Abubakar as Chairman, alongside Egogbamu Okoro, Ba’ande Imam, Augustine Agada, Babangida Abdullahi, Umar Hassan Augie, and Dr Chibuzor Nduaguda, also has the party’s National Secretary, Emma Eneukwu on the ground in Anambra State and he is accused of masterminding a grand plot to derail the Congress Committee’s mandate.

As at 2pm on Saturday March 15, the date of the Congress across the 326 wards in Anambra State, there is no sign of any Congress throughout the 326 wards in Anambra State.

Stranded and compromised, some ward chairmen constituted themselves into both aspirants and returning officers in their wards, to no avail.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has received another prestigious award for his exceptional leadership and performance in governance.

Daily Independent Newspaper honoured Soludo as the “Governor of the Year on Urban Renewal” in recognition of his remarkable efforts in transforming the infrastructure and aesthetics of Anambra State.

On the awards, Soludo expressed gratitude to ndi Anambra for their support and pledged to do even more to uplift the state.

The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to building a “liveable and prosperous homeland” where every citizen can thrive.

* 50 indigent students in Anambra state have received sums of 200 thousand naira in scholarship funds from a popular philanthropist, politician, and Chief Executive Officer of Seahorse Lubricants, Chief Chukwuebuka Onunkwo.

The beneficiaries of the scholarship awards totaling 10 million naira were selected from over 2000 applications from students studying in public tertiary institutions in Anambra state.

Presenting the cheque to the students, the benefactor, Chief Onunkwo who spoke through Chief Emeka Odilika, explained that the scholarship is designed for students from 200 level who are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, but with strong academic record and valid reason for financial support.

He said they also made considerations for students with disability and announced that he would soon launch another 1..5 million naira scholarship programme.

* Some market leaders, members of the civil society and the media have expressed satisfaction with the outcome of a two-day capacity building workshop, organized by Social and Integral Development Centre, (SIDEC), as part of the Tax for Service project implemented in Anambra State in collaboration with Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre, (CISLAC), funded by Oxfam Nigeria.

The participants including civil servants made their feelings known during the second day of the event which afforded them the opportunity of interacting with relevant government officials, during which certain issues hampering the potential of the state in generating more than it is doing currently.

One of the leaders from the Main market, Onitsha, Victor Ajuzie, remarked, “We have learnt a lot these two days and we now know better. I personally gained a lot from this workshop. Bu such programme should happen regularly so that we can always clear our doubts.

The Executive Director of Social and Integral Development Centre, (SIDEC), Ugochi Ehiahuruike, who had earlier spoken on the system of today and the future, listed some challenges bedeviling the current system to as: fragmented and complex tax system which allows overlapping, confusion and exploitation of small-scale traders and women in the informal sector.

* Oba community in Idemili South local government area of Anambra State after seven years without a king, elected Igwe Augustine Chinedu Emelobe (Ezeokpoko two), as its new traditional ruler on Saturday, March 15th 2025.

The new monarch was elected by delegates in line with the tradition and constitution of the community and Anambra State.

Speaking after his installation, Igwe Emelobe pledged to lead and serve the people without fear or favour and to discharge his duties selflessly.

In their separate remarks, the Permanent Secretary to Anambra State Government, Dr. Nwabufo Nwankwo, APGA Chieftain, Chief Ikenna Iyiegbu and Mayor of Idemili South, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi congratulated the new king and residents of Oba for the peaceful election.

They called on the people to support the new king for the peace and progress of the community and Idemili South.

* Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr Law Mefor, has lauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s efforts to give sufficient attention to the state’s judiciary sector, encouraging swift justice delivery.

Mefor while speaking after his recent visit to the project site of Anambra State 6 Court Complex Hall, behind the Judiciary Complex, Awka, which has reached the roofing stage, expressed happiness over the level of work so far done, and extolled the contractor, Hemebs Construction Nigeria Ltd, for her efforts.

Also Speaking, the Chief Executive Officer, Hemebs Construction Nigeria Ltd, Mr Henry Onyeibor, assured that the Anambra State 6 Court Complex Hall, will be delivered within a short period.

* The Local Government Chairman of Idemili South, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi has flagged-off third phase of skills acquisition programme in the council secretariat, Ojoto.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Amaka Obi said that the programme is aimed at promoting Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s agenda on job creation, stating that it will help in skilling up women and youths in the council area and promote their employability beyond academic certificates.

While stating that the state is very lucky to have a hard working Governor that have achieved almost what he promised ndi Anambra in his manifesto, the Mayor maintained that the aim is to stem the rising rate of unemployment among youths, support productive small businesses, create jobs and alleviate poverty and urged the participants not to take it for granted.

* The Sweet Home Africa Humanitarian Foundation, a body of social workers and publishers of Abuja Sweet Home Africa Investigative Magazine, has honored the Commissioner for Information Anambra State, Dr. Law Mefor as Ambassador.

Mefor was decorated with the foundation’s official muffler in recognition of his contributions to the media and governance.

During the visit, Rev. Dr. Austin Ifeanyi Epunam also submitted a letter to the Anambra State Government regarding developments in Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, advocating for fair and transparent elections scheduled for 6th April 2025.

Epunam emphasized the people’s demand for good governance in Nnewi’s apex socio-cultural organization. His letter was well received and applauded by the government.

* Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Anambra State Command, Maku Olatunde has stressed the importance of correct and safe weapon handling for all personnel, warning that any slightest safety breach can have devastating consequences, resulting in casualties.

Commandant Maku stated this during a refresher course organised by the command to upscale its personnel’ s marksmanship and weapon handling skills.

According to the State Commandant, the training organized by the command aimed to achieve the overall goals of the Commandant General,Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi to have well-positioned, professional, gallant, and skilled civil defenders.

* The Anglican Provinces of the Niger and Enugu came together to host the All Anglican Seminaries and Convents Sports Fiesta, bringing together students in order to maximize their potential.

This years event hosted by Queen’s Convent, Awka has 22 participating schools made up of 10 convents and 12 seminaries.

While declaring the programme opened, the Archbishop, Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim said Anglican convents and seminaries are the pride of mission education where young people are nurtured into future leaders of the church and society.

Archbishop Ibezim who is also the Bishop of Awka Diocese was represented by the Niger Provincial Education Secretary and Registrar, Alexander Ibezim College Of Education, Nibo/Nise,Venerable Dr Ifeanyi Umeh stated that he is confident the fiesta will foster unity, teamwork and healthy competition.

The Executive Governor of Anambra State Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR marks three years in office today.
