* The Commissioner of Police Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu is taking proactive measures to prevent future truck accidents in the State.
The CP in his office at Awka interacted with the Truck Union members.
CP Orutugu stated that the Police, Federal Road Safety Corps and other relevant agencies are to collaborate and implement necessary cautionary measures for the Drivers and Owners of trucks.
The Police boss noted that it has become necessary to engage the truck drivers and owners, following reports of truck accidents in recent times, especially on 15th March 2025 by 9pm at the Upper Iweka axis of Onitsha.
* In a continued effort to improve education in the region, the ASUBEB Digital Teachers for Soludo, Njikoka Chapter, recently paid a visit to the Mayor of Njikoka Local Government Council, Barr. Chinedu Dominic Ononiba, at the Njikoka Local Government Headquarters in Abagana.
The visit was led by Lady Phil Nwankwo, the Officer in Charge, and included key members of the group such as Nwankwo Ozioma (PRO), Igboaka Nkechi (Secretary), Nriagu Ndidi (Member, NUTTR), Nwalieji Ifeoma (Member), Ugoh Ifeoma (Member), Anona Florence (Member), and Ezeuchegbu Chidi (Member).
Barr. Chinedu Dominic Ononiba, a staunch advocate for education, warmly received the group and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting educational development in Njikoka.
The Mayor emphasized the importance of providing every child with access to basic education and assured the teachers of his full support in their efforts to make this a reality.
* The Rotary Action Group for Peace (RAGFP) Anambra State Branch, a group within Rotary International that focuses on promoting peace and conflict resolution, has intensified it advocacy to end the menace across communities in the State
RAGFP flags-off the peace process at Ezi Agulu-Otu Aguleri community in Anambra East Local Government Area of the State, on Saturday, during its advocacy visit to the traditional ruler of the town, His Royal Highness, Igwe Lawrence Nwofia and his cabinet.
According to the State Coordinator of RAGFP, Rtn Chidi Obiudu, in his opening remarks, said they were in the palace of the Monarch to address the communal crisis, in Anambra East Local Government Area of the state.
He noted that most of the communities in Anambra East/West Council Areas of the State are bedevilled by challenges that constantly lead to avoidable loss of lives and properties.
* The National Association of Medicine Dealers, Njikoka Unit, has paid a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Njikoka Local Government Council, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, at his office in Abagana.
The visit was led by Hon. Christopher Okolo, the Chairman of the association, accompanied by key members including Mr. Ndubisi Mbamalu, Secretary; Mr. Paulinus Chinweokwu, Trustee; Hon. Chekwube Obiefuna, Public Relations Officer; and Hon. Cyprian Odachi, Grand Patron.
During the visit, Barr. Ononiba commended the association for their vital role in providing essential medicines and healthcare products to the people of Njikoka. He emphasized the importance of adhering to regulations and ensuring that their operations align with legal provisions to maintain the health and safety of the public.
The Mayor also called on the medicine dealers to continue supporting the developmental agenda of the current administration under Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, urging them to work together for the betterment of Ndi Njikoka.
* Stakeholders at a Town hall meeting on human rights, police accountability and justice administration in Anambra State have commended the measures taken by the state government to address the precarious security situation that once engulfed it.
The event was organized by the Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre, RULAAC, supported by the Rule of Law and Anticorruption (RoLAC 2) programme, implemented by International-IDEA and funded by the European Union.
The stakeholders extolled the decisiveness of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, which they noted has restored sanity to the state since the passage of the Anambra State Homeland Security Law 2025 and the establishment of the new security outfit popularly called Agunechemba.
They however stressed the need for the government to ensure that the operatives of the outfit perform their duties within the limits of the establishment law to prevent a situation where they use the platform to settle old scores against perceived opponents.
* As part of activities marking his third year in office, Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has inaugurated two major road projects in Ekwusigo Local Government Area, demonstrating his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.
Governor Soludo officially commissioned the 10.8-kilometer Nkwo Oraifite to Nkwo Nnewi Road, also known as Agba Ụzọ Ịnọ. This vital road connects the Owerri Expressway through Nkwo Oraifite to Nkwo Nnewi, easing transportation challenges and enhancing regional connectivity.
He also flagged off the construction of the 5.8-kilometer Oraifite Civic Center to Onitsha Expressway Road, which had suffered severe erosion, reaching widths of 10 meters and depths of 22 meters. The Governor assured residents that the state’s intervention had already set effective remedial measures in motion.
Speaking at the event, Governor Soludo emphasized the strategic importance of these roads, stating that they would provide long-term solutions to flooding and erosion crises that have affected the communities for years. He urged the contractor handling the projects to ensure quality work and timely completion.
* The Okpoko General Hospital in Ogbaru Local Government Area, Anambra State, has been inaugurated, marking a major milestone in Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s transformation agenda.
Once a neglected dump site, the area has been revitalized into a modern healthcare facility with additional amenities, including a relaxation center, portable water supply, and enhanced security.
The Minister of Health, Prof. Ali Pate, officially commissioned the hospital alongside Governor Soludo, Deputy Governor Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, and other dignitaries from various ministries and agencies.
The facility, fondly called the “Solution General Hospital, Okpoko,” is the first-ever general hospital in the area. It houses various medical departments, including dental, pediatric, maternity, and general wards.
* The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, has dismissed a circulating report claiming that he has directed Igbo youths to prepare for a massive demonstration in Abuja on March 21, 2025, in support of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s court appearance.
The monarch debunked the alleged report in a statement signed and made available to journalists in Awka on Thursday by his Chief of Staff, Chief Osita Anionwu.
Chief Anionwu urged the public to disregard the information, stating that it is false.
* The family of Chief Onyemazu Ngini of the Isuaniocha community in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State has called on Governor Charles Soludo to intervene and order the release of their father, who has been in detention by Agunechemba operatives for over eight days.
Chief Onyemazu Ngini’s son, Chisom, explained that the Agunechemba chairman, Ken Emeakayi, had invited his father to the Agunechemba office to discuss the increasing insecurity in the community, as Chief Onyemazu Ngini is the youth leader of Isuaniocha.
However, upon arrival, instead of a discussion about the community’s security concerns, Chief Onyemazu Ngini was detained by local security operatives.

Abba, has paid a courtesy call to the office of the Local Government Chairman of Njikoka, Barr. Chinedu Ononiba, to congratulate him on being recognized as the Best Mayor of Education in Nigeria.
The organization led by Hon. Adaobi Nweke, expressed their appreciation on Hon. Ononiba’s exemplary leadership and his significant contributions to improving the education sector in Njikoka, particularly his initiatives to support JAMB candidates and educational programs in the area.
Responding, Barr. Ononiba thanked the Catholic Women Organization for their kind gesture and reiterated his commitment to furthering the cause of education in Njikoka.
The Mayor also promised to continue working tirelessly to provide opportunities for all students in the community to achieve their full academic potential.
