* Anambra state government has urged beneficiaries of the 2024/2025 batch A and B entreprneural training going on in the over six hundred Entrepreneurship Development Institutes in the state under 1 Youths 2 Skills initiative to be diligent and persevere till the end in order to actualize Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s aim for introducing the program.
The state commissioner for Youths Development, Hon. Patrick Aghamba, gave the charge while addressing trainees under the program during his routine inspection tour of EDI centers in Awka.
Addressing the beneficiaries in each of the centers, Mr Aghamba said that 1 Youth 2 Skills is very critical to Governor Soludo who he said has surpassed the annual one thousand youth millionaires he promised, as according to him, over five thousand youths were empowered in the first phase while eleven thousand youths were enrolled in this second phase that would be graduating by July this year.
* Prominent Pentecostal cleric, Dr. Jerry Nwachukwu, has challenged one Mathias Ezeaku, a native doctor, to supremacy contest in Anambra state.
Dr. Nwachukwu, Senior Pastor of the Bible Base Miracle Assembly, Nkpor-Agu, said he was upset that Mathias Ezeaku, a native doctor, took to the social media to say that Jesus Christ has no power to heal the sick, make the lame walk or make the barren to conceive, among other claims.
In his message during a Service in his church, at Nkpor-Agu, Nwachukwu berated the native doctor, while challenging him to choose a venue where he (Nwachukwu) will demonstrate to him that there is a supreme God above all other gods.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, has seeked collaboration with the police towards the forthcoming International Women’s Day.
Speaking during the advocacy visit, Hon Obinabo, who appreciated the command for their prompt action and response towards ending rascality in the state, seeked for his partnership as a stakeholder in advancing the welfare and well-being of women in the state.
Responding, the Commissioner for Police, Anambra State Police Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, called on women of Anambra to rise up and condemn the killings and illegal activities going on in the state.
CP Orutugu stated that until women’s activities towards ending ritual practice and other related issues, collaborations alone won’t be felt.
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is “Accelerate Action,” while the event will take place at Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development Center Awka on Saturday, 8th day of March 2025
* The newly elected executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, has paid a courtesy visit to Mrs. Nonye Soludo, at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia.

Mrs. Soludo in her speech, expressed gratitude for the “Most Supportive Governor’s Wife of the NUJ, 2024” award conferred on her, describing it as a motivation to deepen her engagement with media professionals.
Mrs. Soludo urged journalists to join the “Solution Team” and amplify the achievements of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration, which she said is “on a mission” to transform Anambra.
Chairman NUJ Anambra Council, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, in his remarks,
acknowledged the union’s previously strained relationship with the government, vowing to forge stronger ties during their next three-year tenure.
Dr. Odogwu described Mrs. Soludo as “a mother and the voice of the voiceless in the South East. He revealed that approximately 400 active and 2,500 inactive journalists in the state have resolved to build a “good, working relationship” with the government.
* Former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. George Ike Okonkwo, has declared his support for Sir Paul Chukwuma in his gubernatorial ambition.
Hon. Okonkwo, in a statement, said that after assessing all the aspirants, he was directed by the Most High to endorse Chukwuma as the most credible candidate to lead Anambra to greatness.
Okonkwo added that although he has never had any personal contact with Chukwuma, the spirit of God has led him to believe that he is the best choice.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has expressed felicitations and best wishes to esteemed Muslim brothers and sisters in Anambra State and across Nigeria as they commence the holy month of Ramadan fast.
In his goodwill message signed by Mr.
Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to the Governor, Soludo stated that Ramadan, a period of profound spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and heightened devotion, offers a unique opportunity for Muslims to strengthen their connection with the Almighty Allah, foster unity, and extend compassion to those in need.
The Governor went further to assure that Anambra State deeply values the contributions of the Muslim community to the socio-economic dynamism of the state, encouraging all faithful to use this auspicious period to deepen their faith and pray for the continued peace and prosperity of Anambra State and Nigeria.
Soludo, therefore, wishes all Muslims a blessed and rewarding Ramadan and prays that the Almighty Allah grants them the strength and grace to successfully complete the fast.
* The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, has been appointed Chairman of the South-East Traditional Rulers’ Council.
In a viral video, Achebe described his new appointment as “not a mean feat”.
Speaking in Igbo, Achebe said, “Today, the whole Igbo nation has agreed and nominated the Eze Onitsha as their chairman, not me personally as Nnaemeka Achebe, but the Eze Onitsha.
“What that means is that whoever holds the position of Eze Onitsha will assume the role.”
Achebe’s reputation as a respected traditional ruler makes his appointment significant.
With a long history of leadership and community service, Achebe has been on the throne since 2002.
* Following the meeting organized by the Mayor of Orumba South Council Area, Hon. Shedrack Azubuike with the native doctors and ndi eze nwanyi in the area aimed at sanitizing traditional worship and practice in Orumba South, native doctors in Orumba South Local Government Area under the umbrella of “Odinala Orumba South” have embarked on oath-taking at Izo mmili shrine Umunze to flush out bad eggs among them, especially those involved in preparing Oke-ite, ritual killings, among other crime-enabling practices.
Speaking after the oath-taking session, some of the native doctors said that they are happy with and in support of what the Governor is doing because of the conduct of bad eggs among them, urging the Governor and the Council Mayor to continue the good work for the good of the area and the entire state.
Chairman of Odinala Orumba South, Mr. Christian Umeh, who explained that they had been doing similar flushing of bad eggs in the past and are empowered to continue especially now that the Council Mayor, Honourable Azubuike has asked native doctors and ndi eze nwanyi who are non indigens to leave the area, except those doing other businesses , stated that they are against sacrifices on roads and waters being used by the public because every community has “ebo” or other places mapped out for sacrifices.
On the efficacy of the oath taken, the Akajiofo/Chief priest of Izo mmili deity which unifies the entire Umunze, Nze Christopher Ojeanya, said testimonies abound confirming that the deity is ‘test and see’, adding that traditional worshippers in the area have risen in support of the Governor and Council Mayor to make Orumba South and Anambra better.
* The police in Anambra have stepped up the campaign against illegal sit-at-home within the state capital of Awka and environs.
This is coming as the new police commissioner CP Ikioye Orutugu promised to ensure that police presence continues to dominate major routes within the state capital and other hot spots known for criminal activities.
The exercise which started as early as seven in the morning, saw the police public relations officer as well as tactical team of the command moving from one location to the other in ensuring businesses and shops are opened for business.
The improved community policing in Anambra state has now resulted to most traders shunning the Mondays sit-at-home imposed by secessionist groups in the south east.
* The Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Comrade Don Onyenji as well as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Godwin Nnadozie has played host to traditional medicine practitioners in the state to clarify issues surrounding the practice of herbal medicine, native doctors, and ezenwanyi in the state.
Addressing the gathering Onyenji stated that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is a lover of positive culture and traditions of Ndigbo, noted that the meeting was called to brainstorm with the traditionalists to educate them on government stance on the native doctors and ezenwanyi practices in the state.
According to the Commissioner, Anambra seems to be enmeshed with some obnoxious traditional practices by some fake native doctors and ezenwanyi, even as he made it clear that Governor Soludo approved the documentation of native doctors and ezenwanyi in the state in order to remove the fake ones who have made the state unbearable for the generality of Ndi Anambra.
