* The President General of Ideani community, Idemili North LGA Hon Paul Chidubem Okoye has warmly congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo on his recent prestigious award as the SUN Governor of the Year.

Speaking in his office at the INLGA Secretariat Ogidi, Hon Paul Okoye who is also the Secretary of Idemili North was elated about the recent ‘SUN Newspaper Governor of the Year award 2024′ given to Governor Soludo on March 1, 2025 at the Eko hotel and Suites, Lagos describing it as well deserved saying that the Governor has done all the people of Anambra State proud.

“Of course, we endorse Governor Chukwuma Soludo for a Second Term in office because the reward for good work is more work”, said Okoye.

* The Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area, Hon Stanley Nkwoka has flagged off Digital Enumeration and Collection of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Secretariat Ogidi, also marked the completion of the intensive training of Digital IGR Enumerators and Collectors selected from all the political wards and communities in Idemili North.

The Mayor who spoke through the Secretary of the LGA, Hon Paul Chidubem Okoye said that the process was in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s directive to digitalize IGR collection adding that it would include the enumeration and collection of data of all residents and property located within Idemili North.

* A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Chief Arinzechukwu Awogu has said that the party is comfortable with any method the party adopts in the upcoming April 5 governorship primary election in Anambra.

Awogu who said this in a parley with newsmen in Awka on Wednesday, maintained that the clarification became necessary following efforts by other political parties to stop APC from adopting indirect primaries.

The National Coordinator of Ikemba Front, a major support group in APC said some moles in the party were jittery that adoption of indirect primaries in the April 5 primary election may not favour their plot against the party’s determination to win the November election.

Awogu said the type of primaries adopted was determined by prevailing circumstances adding that the leadership of APC in Anambra had mulled the idea that indirect primaries was most suitable at the moment.

* The Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command CP Ikioye Orutugu, while going around the city to educate Ndi Anambra about the negative impacts of the illegal order of sit-at-home, noted that the State mainly survives on buying and selling and encourages Ndi Anambra/residents to go about their lawful businesses without fear.

The Command has further assured that the Police and other security agencies have taken over the streets, especially on Mondays, to sustain safety in the State.

Ndi Anambra are therefore urged to go about their various businesses without fear of molestation and that:

* The Mayor of Idemili South local government area, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi alongside councillors and stakeholders inspected ongoing construction of 1.3 kilometres of Umuegbu-Ukpaka Ndam Nnobi road and appreciated Chief Emeka Agbanari (Seaman Group), for embracing public private community partnership(PPCP).

Speaking during the inspection, Hon. Obi expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work.

She noted that the quality of work met the high expectations set by government and encouraged the site engineer to maintain the standard throughout the project.

* The Deputy Mayor of Orumba South local government area, Hon Mrs Ngozi Obidike has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his wife, Dr. Mrs Nonye Soludo for deepening women economic empowerment and financial inclusion programmes in the state, stating that it will enhance sustainable state development.

Mrs Obidike said that, Governor Soludo
has expanded the political space by increasing women’s participation in the political process through appointments into key positions in government and women served as elected Deputy Mayors in most of the local governments of the state because administration of Governor Soludo recognizes the inherent abilities of women to birth social change and contribute their unique skills to the governance process.

The summit was organized by Women Initiative For Greater Anambra WIGA (Umu Nwanyi Soludo), in collaboration with Healthy Living Initiative championed by Anambra State First Lady, Dr. Mrs Nonye Soludo.

* The local government Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Hon. Harold Umunna Maduka has congratulated Prof. Chukwuma Soludo on well-deserved recognition as Sun “Governor of the Year” and Best Governor In Urban Renewal” by Daily independent Newspaper.

Hon. Maduka stated that Governor Soludo’s streak of awards is a clear reflection of his dedication to good governance and grassroots development.

While congratulating Mr. Governor, Hon. Maduka expresses his unwavering support for administration of Governor Soludo in consistently delivering dividends of democracy to the people of Anambra State.

* The Mayor of Orumba South local government area, Hon. Shedrack Azubuike has urged youths in the council area to upscale their skills set towards self empowerment and state economic development.

Hon. Azubuike made this statement while speaking during “Orumba South Youth O’ Clock’ interactive session, stating that Anambra has various skills acquisition centres around the state that youths can leverage to better their lots.

The Mayor said that, the local government will consolidate the efforts of Mr. Governor on youths and women development to empower them for the future.

Hon. Azubuike noted that the world now relies on skilled individuals to provide services and such jobs that are being avoided by the youths could put food on their tables and cater for their needs.

Council boss added that he is an advocate of skill acquisition and he believes that we are where most of our youths lacks direction and they see most of these skills as dirty jobs and he thinks, it is about that time we have to start changing their orientation.

* The power supply from Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) at the Okofia campus of Nnamdi Azikiwe University was restored as part of the ongoing efforts by the Acting Vice-Chancellor to improve electricity across the institution.

Recall that the campus has been without electricity for some time. But, with the efforts of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof Joseph I. Ikechebelu, the campus has been reconnected and power restored.

This aligns with his administration’s agenda to “Light Up UNIZIK” a key component of his BLESSeD vision for the university.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has sacked the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Chikodi Anara, barely six months after sacking his Information counterpart, Paul Nwosu, for alleged incompetence.

A Government House source revealed that Soludo could no longer tolerate the growing insecurity under Anara’s watch.

The source added that Prince Ken Emeakayi’s appointment as Special Adviser on Community Security rendered Anara’s position redundant, given Emeakayi’s successes in securing the state.
