* The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Anambra State Command has deployed over 1,531 operatives to provide security and surveillance around critical national, state and local government assets and infrastructure ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s scheduled visit to Anambra State on Thursday May, 8, 2025.

Commandant Maku Olatunde , the NSCDC Anambra State Commandant disclosed this after a high -level strategic tactical briefing with very senior officers, Area Commanders , Divisional Officers, Heads of Formations and Composite Commanders at the State Command Headquarters Awka.

The NSCDC boss outlined the deployment strategy, noting that personnel will be drawn from Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, and Delta states to reinforce security operations in Anambra State.

According to him, the NSCDC in collaboration with other sister security agencies has intensified covert surveillance, increased joint operations, including raids on criminal hideouts as well as confidence building patrols within the state, reinforcing the readiness of security agencies to emplace a secure environment throughout the high – profile visit.

* Anambra Commissioner of Police CP. Ikioye Orutugu has condemn the mob action by some members of the public who resort to jungle justice whenever they arrest suspects in respect of criminal allegations without recourse to the Police for proper investigation.

The Police boss also urged ndi Anambra and residents alike to always exercise restraint by not taking the law into their hands.

Orutugu stated that they should endeavour to take such suspects to the nearest Police Station whenever they are apprehended. This would afford the Police the opportunity to conduct an appropriate investigation into the nefarious activities of the suspect and possibly arrest other gang members and bring them to justice in accordance with extant laws.

* In a shining example of citizen-led development, Dr. Frank Igbojindu, Chief Executive Officer of Akpoazaa Group, has hosted a remarkable dual event in his hometown, Okija, Ihiala LGA, Anambra State

The event marked both the housewarming of his newly completed residence and the commissioning of a community borehole project aimed at providing clean and accessible water to residents.

The borehole project was officially unveiled by Chief Nwabueze Umeh, CEO of Ofia Afulu Ego Foundation, who hailed the gesture as a powerful contribution to public welfare and a direct response to one of the most pressing challenges in rural communities—access to safe water.

* The Commissioner of Police Anambra State Police Command, CP. Ikioye Orutugu while receiving the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) in his Office at the Police Headquarters, Awka, expressed his enthusiasm to leverage on the Association’s efforts to promote a positive Police – Community Relationship with the people of Anambra State.

The Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) is a non-profit organization that supports the welfare of Police Officers and their families. The Association comprises wives of Police officers and is dedicated to promoting the well-being and interests of Police families.

In her response, Mrs Chinwe Umueri Acting Chairperson POWA Anambra State thanked the CP for receiving the Association. She intimated the Command on their programs of skills acquisition which include fashion design, catering, baking, hair and wig making, headgear styling/design and many others.

* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for attracting President Bola Tinubu by building monumental projects.

Rt. Hon. Udeze maintained that Soludo has proved that with massive human and infrastructural developments as well as overall good governance, President Bola Tinubu was attracted to the State by the Governor to commission landmark projects built by Governor Soludo’s administration.

Welcoming President Tinubu to Anambra State on behalf of the State Legislature, Rt. Hon. Udeze described the visit as unprecedented in view of the fact that this is the first time in the history of the State that a President is coming to commission projects.

* An 18 year old randy boy, has impregnated no fewer than 10 girls in Anambra state.

The Anambra state commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare, Gon. Mrs. Ify Obinabo has raised the alarm, seeking solution for the abnormally.

Two of the pregnant girls are his Master’s daughter and sales girl, while the 8 others were impregnated when he was sent packing by his boss.

According to Obinabo in her live video she shared on social media seeking for advice, she said, ” I want advice from the public because this one is beyond my capacity.

* A concerned citizen of Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State has called on the State Government to expedite and complete the erosion control project along the Ozubulu axis of the Onitsha–Owerri Expressway as the climax of the rainy season gradually sets in.

The resident, who made the call in an interview, expressed fears that dire consequences may result therefrom if the project is left at its present condition or lingers uncompleted till the rainy season fully arrives.

While commending Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for his swift intervention and the level of work so far done at the erosion site which had previously suffered a massive landslide that cut off the Ozubulu axis of the ever-busy Onitsha–Owerri Expressway and subjected commuters and residents to untold hardship, the citizen said the coming rains may make nonsense of that great intervention and possibly aggravate the situation, if the work is it not perfected.

* Residents of Iyiowa Odekpe in Ogbaru Local Government Area, Anambra State, have accused the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) of systematic extortion, saying the country’s minimum wage of N70,000 cannot cover the company’s monthly bill for one family.

The protesters claim that no household in the area pays less than N80,000 as a monthly electricity bill, even with prepaid meters.

The community staged a peaceful protest over what they described as outrageous electricity billing and the disconnection of their power supply, saying EEDC is suffering them.

Chairman of the Iyiowa Odekpe Landlords and Tenants Association, Chief Sunday Obinze, decried the hardship imposed on the community by EEDC.

* Police Operatives attached to the Atani Divisional Headquarters while on patrol recovered a burnt dead body in a waste dump at Iyiowa Odekpe.

The discovery is allegedly a suspected victim of jungle justice.

Anambra State Command, preliminary findings revealed that the deceased with the gang members specializes in stealing Car batteries.

It was alleged that the victim was caught and set ablaze in the early hours of today by an angry mob after their criminal operations in the area, while other gang members escaped the scene.
