# The House of Representatives member representing Ihiala federal constituency at the Green Chambers of the national assembly, Dr. Paschal Agbodike has declared that no House of Representatives member from Anambra State is against Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s second term reelection.
Agbodike who made the declaration at the regional headquarters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Awka during the inauguration of the 2025 APGA Governorship Campaign Council over the weekend, assured Governor Soludo that he has the support and backing of the eleven members of the Federal House of Representatives from Anambra State and there are no dissenting voices irrespective of party affiliation.
Agbodike further declared that Soludo’s second term aspiration is a done deal because it is crystal clear from the evidence on ground that Anambra is fast becoming a choice destination courtesy of the transformational leadership of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
# A native doctor has been arrested in Anambra State after confessing to collecting used male condoms from prostitutes to prepare charms.
The suspect, identified as Anagbo Emeka from Umugbo in Ayamelum Local Government Area, was apprehended by youths in the Echara community, Awka North Local Government Area.
A video of the incident, shared on Facebook by Dr. Uche Nworah, captured the moment Emeka openly admitted to the act.
“I agreed with her to sell me used condoms. She delivered them, but later reported me. That is the wrong thing I did,” he confessed in the video.
According to him, he struck a deal with a prostitute who supplied him with used condoms sourced from brothels. However, the arrangement collapsed when the woman allegedly betrayed him by exposing the secret.
Emeka further revealed that the used condoms were vital materials for his fetish practices.
# The member representing Ihiala two Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Golden Iloh, has laid his mother-in-law, Late Mrs. Patricia Akpunonu, to rest.
Late Mrs. Akpunonu (née Malizu), who passed on at the age of 75, was a devout Catholic, a teacher, an entrepreneur, and the third child of her parents.
In his tribute, Honourable Iloh, her son-in-law, expressed gratitude for the deceased’s belief in him and for guiding their family with the light of a happy home, promising to uphold her legacy until their paths cross again.
Similarly, her daughter, Dr. Eze-Golden, described her late mother as an epitome of love, kindness, and generosity, adding that she will forever cherish the moments they shared.
# Anambra State Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA) has warn criminals and miscreants to stay away from Nkpor New Parts Bridge
According to the Managing Director of SASA, Mr. Monday Nwokoye, the squad remains firmly committed to keeping Anambra safe.
Nwokoye emphasized that “no more crime will be permitted in the state” and warned hoodlums to stay clear or face the consequences.
The security boss noted that while the Nkpor vicinity is now cleared of criminal activities, SASA will maintain its presence to ensure touting and lawlessness do not return.
He assured residents that the government will not relent in its efforts to end harassment, extortion, and all forms of hooliganism across the state.
# Laying of asphalt has been completed up to seventy percent on the nine point eight kilometres Nkwo Oraifite to Nkwo Nnewi Road, popularly called Nkwo to Nkwo.
The asphalt which commenced from the Nnewi axis of the road has been completed on both sides of the road up to Ifite Oraifite axis, while one portion of the road from Ifite Oraifite has been asphalted.
Also, laying of Stone base is on going on one portion of the road on Ifite Oraifite axis of the road.
The project manager, Engineer Fahd Alshekh who noted that they started work in February this year said that they have completed one hundred percent drainage work on the road with maintenance of existing drainage channel over eighty five percent completed , promising to hand over the job by the end of the year.
# Security operatives at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, have apprehended two suspects, identified as Shehu Ibrahim and Sadiq Haruna, for allegedly stealing university property under the guise of scavenging.
The suspects were arrested following an investigation into the theft of an air conditioning unit from the university’s printing press.
According to the UNIZIK Security Department, the duo had been moving around campus, claiming to be scavengers, while in reality, they were targeting and stealing valuable university equipment.
During a search, a dagger component was reportedly found in the possession of one of the suspects, raising further concerns about their intentions and level of threat.
# The streets of Awka and environs were filled with members of the Eternal Order Of Cherubim And Serafim (ESOCS) who processed as part of evangelism and missions marking their centenary celebration.
They rolled out with their musical equipments singing and praising God for giving them grace to attain the significant year.
The grand finale of the centenary celebration which is scheduled for Tuesday 9th of September is themed “Centenary Without Borders” and will highlight the long journey of the church since it was founded 1925 by the ministry of Moses Orimolade.
Speaking to the press, the Chairman of Awka Province of the Order and Co-ordinator of the centenary celebration in Anambra State, Special Senior Apostle Dr David Onuoha, explained that they will continue to promote love as the basis of true Christianity while calling on Christians to return to the roots of Christianity.
# The Anambra State Police Command has stepped up security measures across the State, particularly in Awka, following credible intelligence reports of a planned clash between rival cult groups.
Confirming this in a press statement issued to newsmen on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said operatives of the Special Anti-Cult Squad (SPACS), Enugwu-Ukwu, have intensified patrols and surveillance operations aimed at forestalling any breakdown of law and order.
According to the statement, the Command has also activated non-kinetic approaches to complement enforcement efforts. These, he said, include strategic collaborations with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Anti-Cultism, as well as with the State Coordinator of Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), to ensure a holistic and coordinated strategy in tackling cultism and related crimes.
