Troops Record Major Victories Against Boko Haram, ISWAP in North East

Nigerian troops under Operation HADIN KAI have intensified counter-terrorism operations in the North East, recording significant victories against Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in Borno and Yobe States.

In a statement on Monday, the military confirmed that troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade repelled a night attack on their Forward Operating Base in Kumshe, Borno State. Backed by Nigerian Air Force surveillance and airstrikes, the soldiers inflicted heavy casualties on the insurgents. Over 20 bodies of terrorists were later discovered, with some hastily buried in shallow graves.

Similarly, troops of Sector 1 engaged insurgents during an offensive at Dipchari, near Banki Junction in Bama Local Government Area. Following intense firefights, scores of terrorists were neutralised, and several weapons were recovered, including a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) tube, two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and motorcycles.

In Yobe State, troops from Sector 2, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), launched a tactical operation around Ndoksa, near Buni Gari. The raid led to the killing of more terrorists and the recovery of additional arms and motorcycles.

The military said the sustained operations have denied terrorist groups freedom of action, degraded their firepower, and disrupted their supply networks.

The Defence Headquarters commended the troops for their gallantry and urged them to maintain momentum in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign.
