Türkiye’s oil production rises despite opposition doubts

Gabar, Türkiye – May 2, 2025– Türkiye has achieved a major breakthrough in oil production, with daily output in Gabar surpassing 81,000 barrels.

While this milestone strengthens energy independence, opposition groups remain skeptical, having previously dismissed such claims as election tactics. Nevertheless, official data confirms that Gabar’s total production has exceeded 26 million barrels, generating nearly $2 billion in revenue.

By March 2025, Türkiye’s domestic oil output hit a record 135,000 barrels per day, supported by an extra 40,000 barrels from foreign fields.

Consequently, these figures reinforce Türkiye’s growing influence in global energy markets. Additionally, the country has made progress in natural gas, completing Phase 1 of the Sakarya Gas Field, which now supplies over 4 million households.

Looking forward, authorities plan to expand Sakarya’s daily production to 40 million cubic meters by 2028. If successful, domestic gas could fully meet residential demand. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan linked these achievements to national security, stating, “Once we resolve terrorism concerns, Türkiye will chart a new course.” He believes stability will accelerate energy and economic growth.

These developments highlight Türkiye’s push for self-reliance amid regional challenges. As the government balances energy expansion and security, the focus remains on sustainable progress. Moving forward, observers will monitor how these efforts impact both the economy and political dynamics before upcoming elections.

Ultimately, Türkiye’s energy strides demonstrate resilience, yet skepticism lingers. With production rising, the nation aims to reduce imports and strengthen its economic future. However, political debates will likely continue as the country works toward its long-term energy goals.
