Numerous Premier League clubs will enter the market in search of a new right-back when the window opens in the coming months.
Expectedly, you’re going to have multiple sides pursuing the same target, and that’s already proving to be the case for sought-after Bayer Leverkusen whiz Jeremie Frimpong.
Long has the attack-minded full-back been linked with a move away from the German outfit, though luckily for him, he stayed long enough to earn his invincible Bundesliga winners’ medal upon the culmination of 2023/2024.
Now that Leverkusen are left playing catch-up in the title race and out of the Champions League, he’s perhaps mulling over where else he could ply his trade, having also enjoyed a successful two-year stint with Celtic from 2019 to 2021. Prior to that, he worked his way through the ranks of Manchester City’s academy for nine years but left without making a senior appearance for the club.

It’ll come as no surprise to learn that Frimpong is on Liverpool’s shortlist as they prepare for a summer in which their anticipated title celebrations will be slightly dampened by homegrown star Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving on a free. All signs currently point towards him signing for Real Madrid when his terms expire, and a proven successor will be vital if they want to replicate this season’s emphatic form.
According to TBR Football, Manchester United and City are also monitoring the 24-year-old’s situation. The latter are making long-term plans to replace loanee Kyle Walker, while Ruben Amorim is keen on bolstering his wing-back options ahead of his first full term in the dugout.
The trio of Premier League giants have ‘held talks’ over Frimpong, with UtdDistrict reporting he’s likely to cost in the region of £34 million
