Uzodimma Flags Off 2025 Christian Pilgrimage, 1,000 Pilgrims to Depart from Owerri

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has inaugurated the 2025 Christian pilgrimage, urging 1,000 intending pilgrims to represent both the state and Nigeria with dignity.
Speaking through his deputy, Dr. Chinyere Ekomaru, Uzodimma charged the pilgrims to embody the values of true believers while in the Holy Land, stressing the importance of discipline and exemplary conduct.
The representative of the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Nwamaka Okpara, who also serves as the South East Zonal Coordinator, highlighted the spiritual significance of the exercise. She described the pilgrimage as an opportunity for personal renewal and deepened faith.
In a landmark development, the pilgrims will be airlifted directly from the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, on September 14 — the first time the state’s airport is being used as a departure point for the exercise.
