Controversial social media activist Verydarkman has cleared the air over speculations that Afrobeats superstar Davido has been financially backing him.
Taking to his Instagram page, the outspoken activist firmly denied ever receiving money or financial favours from the DMW boss, stating that many of the claims circulating about their relationship are false and misleading.
“People just dey talk anyhow. Anytime I talk about Davido, dem go say, ‘after all Davido don do for you’ — fly you to Lagos, sponsor your NGO, lodge you for hotel. But make I clear una: Na me pay for my own flight. Na me lodge myself. Davido or him guys never give me one kobo,” he stated in a video posted on his Instagram story.
Verydarkman went on to explain that although he shares a cordial relationship with Davido, it has never been financially motivated. He admitted that for “entertainment purposes,” he sometimes lets assumptions slide, but he felt the need to finally set the record straight due to the persistent narrative.
This revelation has stirred discussions online, especially among fans of both parties. While some applauded Verydarkman for his transparency, others questioned why the perception was allowed to fester if it wasn’t true.
As of press time, Davido has not made any public statement in response to the claims.
