Wanted CBEX promoter voluntarily reports to EFCC

Adefowora Abiodun, one of the individuals declared wanted in connection with the controversial cryptocurrency platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX), has voluntarily surrendered to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Abiodun, accompanied by his legal team, arrived at the EFCC headquarters around 4 p.m. on Monday, April 28, expressing his readiness to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.

The EFCC had declared Abiodun and seven others wanted last week over their alleged roles in a fraudulent investment scheme worth more than $1 billion.

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja had earlier approved the commission’s request to arrest and detain the suspects pending further investigation and potential prosecution.

In granting the application, Justice Nwite stated: “I have listened to the submission of learned counsel for the applicant (EFCC). I have also gone through the affidavit evidence and exhibits, along with the written address. I am satisfied that the application is meritorious and hereby grant it as prayed.”

Abiodun’s lawyer, Babatunde Busari, Esq., said his client chose to come forward to assist with the investigation and to clarify misinformation being circulated in the media.
