Welbeck snubs Ronaldo, chooses Alexis Sanchez as his best teammate

Former Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck names Alexis Sanchez as the best teammate he had throughout his career.

The Englishman rose through the ranks of the club and became a member of the final years of Sir Alex Ferguson’s legendary tenure. He eventually left to join Arsenal in 2014 and is currently plying his trade at Brighton where he remains a key player for the Seagulls.

Some have even urged the Red Devils to bring back the experienced striker who could still be useful despite turning 34.

During his time at Old Trafford, Welbeck played alongside some of the biggest football stars at the time, including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney. The striker looked back at his time at Carrington which was almost a surreal experience for a young player.

“Actually, when I was first in the dressing room and I was in the corner between Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs I was a 17-year-old and that’s who I’m sat between,” he told Sky Sports.

“It was just amazing to see. Ronaldo you saw how early he got to the training ground, how late he left. I didn’t play as many games with him but I still got to play with him and train with him for a couple of years and that was so special.”

Nevertheless, when it came to picking his best teammate, he favoured Sanchez with whom he had struck a solid understanding during their time together at Arsenal.

“I’m going to go for Sanchez. I played a lot of games with him and I really had a good connection with him.”

Sanchez was considered one of the most devastating Premier League players during his time at the Emirates, but gone amiss after joining Man Utd in 2018.

The Chilean legend then had two spells at Inter Milan separated by a season at Marseille. Last summer, he made his return to Udinese, which was his first European club.
