Apostle Johnson Suleman, the founder of Omega Fire Ministries International, recently recounted an encounter with a Muslim man who frequently abused his wife, a member of his congregation.

Speaking at an International Ministers Conference, Suleman shared that his church was about four years old when he met the woman. She was married to a man nearly 40 years older than her and was the youngest of his four wives. Despite this, she endured constant physical abuse. “The age gap was significant-he was almost 69, while she was under 30,” Suleman recalled.

He initially prayed for the abuse to stop, but when nothing changed, he decided to confront the husband directly. “I tried everything, so I chose to visit his house, even if it meant kneeling to plead with him,” he said.

Upon arriving, the man was surprised by his visit. When his household informed him, he dismissed it as a lie, but upon seeing Suleman, he welcomed him warmly, even saying, “God came to my house.”

Their conversation was cordial until the topic of marriage arose. The man then questioned Suleman’s authority on the matter, asking, “Apost, how many wives do you have?” When Suleman answered, “One,” the man responded, “What makes you think you can advise me, someone with four wives, about marriage?”

Although he couldn’t change the man’s beliefs, Suleman managed to build a relationship with him. Over time, this connection proved useful, allowing him to intervene whenever issues arose. “That was the only approach that worked. Counseling? Ah! He had far more experience in that area,” Suleman admitted.
