What I Discovered About Boko Haram – Obasanjo

Armed bandits have carried out multiple coordinated attacks in Kogi State’s Yagba West Local Government Area, leaving residents in fear and demanding urgent government action.

The first attack occurred in Bareke, Egbe, around 2 a.m. on Friday.

Gunmen stormed a residential home and abducted a woman and her two children.

Her husband narrowly escaped with injuries during the raid.

The incident happened close to the residence of Senator Sunday Karimi, who represents Kogi West in the National Assembly.

A community source told SaharaReporters, “The woman and her two children were kidnapped right from their house.

Her husband managed to escape with wounds. This happened very close to the senator’s residence in Egba.

The Bareke abduction followed a separate incident on Thursday in Ejiba, another Yagba West community. Bandits attacked a commercial bus, kidnapping all passengers on board. A motorcyclist was also killed during the raid.

Earlier in the week, three individuals were abducted when bandits stormed Bethel Farm in Ejiba on October 1.

Hours before that farm attack, gunmen targeted a bread distributor along the Ejiba–Odo-Eri route, shooting one of the staff members.

Photographs obtained by SaharaReporters showed a burnt motorcycle believed to belong to vigilantes who tried to confront the attackers.

The escalating violence has forced entire communities into flight.

A video published on September 26 showed Okunran, a Yagba West town, completely deserted after residents fled repeated assaults.

Homes and streets stood empty as families sought safety elsewhere.

Local residents say the attacks have created widespread fear, leaving many too terrified to go about daily activities.

Farmers, in particular, have abandoned farmlands, threatening food security in the region.

Senator Sunday Karimi, who chairs the Senate Committee on Services, hails from Yagba West.

Locals are now calling on him and security agencies to urgently intervene before the insecurity worsens further.

For many in Yagba West, the wave of kidnappings and killings has become unbearable.

Families live in constant fear, with bandits attacking farms, highways, and even homes at night.

As of press time, security authorities had yet to issue a formal response to the latest attacks.
