‘Why Praise US for Osama Bin Laden but Attack Israel?’ – Netanyahu Drags World Leaders

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused world leaders of hypocrisy, saying they praised the United States for killing Osama bin Laden but are now condemning Israel for striking Islamic militants.

Speaking on the eve of the September 11 remembrance, Netanyahu drew a sharp comparison between the 2001 terror attacks on America and the October 7, 2023 assault on Israel.

He described both events as acts of brutal savagery carried out by Islamist terrorists.

“Tomorrow is September 11. On that day, Islamist terrorists committed the worst atrocity on American soil since the nation’s founding,” he said. “We too have our September 11.

On October 7, Islamic terrorists carried out the worst massacre against Jews since the Holocaust.”

The Israeli leader blasted international criticism of his country’s recent military strike in Qatar, accusing the Gulf state of giving safe haven and financial support to Hamas leaders.

Netanyahu insisted Israel’s actions were no different from Washington’s response after 9/11, when the US tracked Al-Qaeda leaders worldwide and eventually killed bin Laden in Pakistan.

“What did America do after September 11? It promised to hunt terrorists wherever they hid.

The UN Security Council even passed a resolution declaring that no government should shelter terrorists,” Netanyahu said. “Yesterday, we acted on the same principle.

We went after the masterminds of the October 7 massacre in Qatar, which finances Hamas and houses its leaders in luxury villas. We did what America did when it killed bin Laden.”

He accused world powers of double standards.

“When the US took out bin Laden, did anyone condemn Washington for violating Pakistan’s sovereignty? No, they applauded.

Yet, today, they condemn Israel for defending itself. They should be ashamed. They should be applauding us.”

Netanyahu also issued a stern warning to Qatar and other states accused of harbouring terrorists.

“Expel them or bring them to justice. If you don’t, Israel will do it ourselves. We will strike wherever our enemies hide,” he declared.

His remarks have deepened tensions with global leaders, many of whom criticized Israel’s strike in Qatar as a dangerous escalation.

But Netanyahu maintained that Israel’s fight mirrors America’s fight after 9/11 pursuing terrorists beyond borders to prevent future massacres.
