Wike Is A “Political Native Doctor” — Prince Amarabhi Ovoh Jr. Says Wike never won elections without resorting to fraudulent practices and intimidation

A political strategist and national coordinator for the African Democratic Congress Polling Units Support Group, Prince Crispus Amarabhi Ovoh Jr., has described the former governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, as a “political native doctor”.
Prince Amarabhi Ovoh Jr. made the remarks during an interview with Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) on Thursday, September 4, 2025.
The political strategist explained that Mr. Wike’s approach to election matters embodies an uncivilized form of politics.
He added that Wike “has not won elections without resorting to fraudulent practices and intimidation”.
Ovoh Jr. expressed doubts that Wike has genuine support even in his hometown, noting that his “people are disillusioned by his lack of integrity”.

You’re a prominent political strategist and national coordinator for the African Democratic Congress Polling Units Support Group. Can you elaborate on the mission of your organization within the context of Nigeria’s electoral challenges?
Our organization, the African Democratic Congress Polling Units Support Group, is committed to ensuring that the electoral process reflects the true will of the people.
Our mission is to reform the system so that every vote counts and the results truly mirror the expectations of voters. We believe that real empowerment of the electorate is essential for collective development in Nigeria.
You’ve made some strong statements about Mr. Nyesom Wike. Can you explain your views on his political practices and their effects on the electoral process?
Certainly. I’ve referred to Mr. Wike as a “political native doctor” because his approach embodies an uncivilized form of politics. He has not won elections without resorting to fraudulent practices and intimidation.
In fact, I believe he lacks genuine support even in his hometown, where people are disillusioned by his lack of integrity. I predict that by 2027, his tactics will no longer work, and he will face a significant defeat.
It seems like you have a strong stance against his criticisms of figures like Peter Obi. Why do you believe that the media should reconsider giving him a platform?
Mr. Wike’s continuous attacks on respected national leaders like Peter Obi are detrimental. They reflect a lack of civility and respect for our political discourse.
The media plays a crucial role in shaping dialogue, and I urge them to refrain from providing him a platform to insult committed leaders. We need constructive, respectful conversation for our democracy to thrive.
You’ve also made a passionate call for members of the PDP to join the ADC. Can you elaborate on your appeal to those in the PDP and your vision for the ADC?
My appeal to PDP members is rooted in the quest for liberation from oppression, corruption, and the dire economic situation many are facing today.
We need to unite under the African Democratic Congress to create a better future for Nigeria, free from the chains of the current political climate. Working together, we can support credible candidates like Peter Obi to drive meaningful change and restore our nation’s dignity.
What are your thoughts on other political figures like Goodluck Jonathan and Atiku Abubakar in the current political landscape?
Goodluck Jonathan has become a symbol for selfish politicians, but he, too, recognizes the need for genuine change. His past experiences should serve as a lesson for us.
As for Atiku, while I respect his experience, the time has come for leaders to rally behind a proactive movement under Peter Obi’s guidance. I also recognize the potential of Rotimi Amaechi; if he aligns himself with this vision, he can contribute significantly to Nigeria’s recovery.
Lastly, what message do you have for Nigeria’s security agencies amidst the current political climate?
I call upon our security agencies to take decisive action to protect the lives and rights of Nigerians. The stability and peace of our nation depend on their vigilance and dedication. We have a responsibility to our country; we cannot afford to remain passive as our future is at stake. If we do not act now, it may indeed be too late.
Thank you, Prince Crispus, for sharing your insights with us today. Your passion for the future of Nigeria is evident, and we appreciate your time.
Thank you for the opportunity. Together, we can build a better Nigeria for all.
