“Wike Is Not Working for APC; He Is Working for Nigeria” – PDP Chieftain

According to a report, The National Vice-Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih, has defended the appointment of Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), insisting that Wike is working for Nigerians and not the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, Orbih clarified that Wike’s acceptance of the ministerial role was not a betrayal of the PDP, as he had sought permission from key organs of the party before taking up the position. According to him, the PDP leadership, including the South-South Zonal Executive, the state and local government chapters, and the PDP Governors’ Forum, had all endorsed Wike’s decision as a call to national service.
“And I can tell you there is no record that the current acting national chairman, the members of the national working committee, or any organ of the party wrote to him in response, asking him not to accept the appointment,” Orbih stated.
He criticized those questioning Wike’s allegiance, describing their stance as mischief. “His participation in this government is not an issue except for those being mischievous,” he said.
“My membership in PDP does not determine my friendships. I have friends in Labour Party, APC, and other parties,” he added. Orbih also stressed that political parties should not dictate personal relationships.
He reiterated that Wike is committed to national service, emphasizing that his role in government serves the interest of Nigeria, not the APC.
