Zulum visit Radda to offer condolences on mother’s passing

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum demonstrated solidarity Sunday by visiting Katsina’s Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
The gesture followed the passing of Radda’s mother, Hajiya Sarafa’u Umaru, who died Saturday in Makkah at 93.
Her family laid her to rest Sunday in Radda Village, Katsina, amidst an outpouring of grief.
Accompanied by Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, Zulum offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
During their visit, both leaders praised Hajiya Sarafa’u’s lifelong dedication to integrity and community upliftment.
“Her legacy transcends generations,” Zulum remarked, emphasizing her role as a unifying force within the Fulani community and beyond.
Meanwhile, tributes highlighted Hajiya Sarafa’u’s resilience and compassion.
As a matriarch, she nurtured leaders, including her son Alhaji Kabir Umaru Radda, Radda Village’s head, and Hajiya Hauwa Umaru Radda, former wife of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
Her teachings on perseverance and service, relatives noted, shaped countless lives across Katsina.
Governor Radda expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, calling his mother “a guiding light.”
Similarly, Governor Bago echoed Zulum’s sentiments, stressing the importance of unity during loss.
Prayers for Hajiya Sarafa’u’s peaceful repose concluded the emotional gathering, symbolizing shared sorrow among Nigeria’s leaders.
Beyond political ties, the visit underscored a tradition of empathy among governors. Zulum’s presence, analysts noted, reinforced the cultural value of communal mourning. Such gestures, they argued, bridge regional divides, fostering national cohesion during personal and collective trials.
As the nation reflects on Hajiya Sarafa’u’s impact, her story resonates as one of quiet strength. From raising visionary children to mentoring neighbors, her life exemplified humility intertwined with purpose. Even in death, she unites communities, proving legacies outlive physical presence.
In this time of mourning, Katsina residents continue sharing anecdotes of her generosity. One local recalled her funding education for underprivileged children; another praised her mediation during conflicts. These narratives, woven into her eulogy, paint a portrait of a woman who led with heart.
Ultimately, Hajiya Sarafa’u’s passing reminds Nigerians of the bonds that transcend politics. While Governor Radda navigates this loss, the nation stands with him—a testament to shared humanity. As sunset hues bathed Radda Village during her burial, observers found solace in traditions that honor life and legacy equally.
Her memory, like the arid winds of Katsina, lingers—gentle yet enduring. For leaders and citizens alike, her journey underscores a universal truth: greatness lies not in titles, but in lives touched through selflessness. In grief, Nigeria finds unity; in remembrance, strength.
